A few questions, to help me solve this:
If you get this bug when joining a server, does the server crash?
Does this bug happen after playing for a bit, or right after selecting your team/class? Does the mp3 music play when you get this bug?

1. No, the usually the client crashes, (98% of the time before they get a chance to select a class.
2. Yes, when the player does get in and is able to play for a bit, the game crashes, usually it takes no more than 2 minutes. However, I don't hear the music playing.

EDIT: If this helps, it makes no difference whether or not server is dedicated or not, the same problem occurs.

Best of luck fixing this, sa_g

Thx... Hm... Are you running in Direct3d, or software mode? If so, please try if running running in OpenGL works.

We were running it in opengl with the server and software mode on the client an now it seems to get in and work as long as no one uses the spirit bomb, or tries to transform on the client.
When we tried it in opengl for both comps we got the same problem as before, with the client unable to get in.

Ya put sons in your mp3 list?

As for the bug. I didn't have it. I played on a dedicated against someone and I was SSJ (I think he forgot he could to :D)

Anyways no scrashes there. :)

I did crash once while connecting but that also happens sometimes in HL... but we'll see. I got Dev mode on again so i'll keep a eye on it. :)

I get the strange bug as well, but when i connect with my lpb of a 56k i have enough time to select a class & player, then in the game i can move around for about 10 sec's then it complety's crashed.
(HOWEVER i know there are no bots yet i've gone into LAN to learn the controls i can play by my self as long as i like (strange)

(for connect to net game and LAN i've used software rendering
and if its any help i'm using windows 2000 professional)

2: the mp3 never play but as D.C. Darkling says, i just need to make a play list.

When you post your bug reports post your computer info too.
EX:
cpu: Althon xp 1900+
ram: 512 mb
vid card: geforce 4 ti 4400
operating system: Windows xp
connection: Cable modem

You can post more then that, but we dont need to know the type of moniter you have, if you have a cd r drive, your case color, your speakers, ect...

You should never . . . . EVER EVER EVER use software mode for ESF. Your missing all the particles! Software mode is buggy at best, so go OGL or D3D.

Matter of fact, wouldn't hurt to tell us what driver version your video card is using either. Some problems can be fixed just by updating drivers believe it or not :)
