Identifying processes

So I'm basically just wondering if there is an application or website that will give me information that will help in determining what all of the processes I have running are. I've noticed that there are quite a few processes that I can't readily identify by name and am curious as to if I need them running. Any help?

Windows Defender's Software Explorer tells you the name, location and creator of each process.

would you guys recommend using any of these programs that clean up memory use and cpu speed?

sometimes you can just google it and find it and if it's spyware ad-aware does a pretty good job i think
