Huge Powerstruggles

The only example I can think of would be the final Gohan vs Cell powerstruggle that happened in the "Save the World" episode.
Basically I think (after the melee upgrade) the team should upgrade the powerstruggles. Once you get to a certain powerlevel, Powerstruggles should get much bigger.and there could be plenty of effects made to make that look cool. Dust flying, ground shaking, particles of rock floating up, and of course a HUGE ball of energy that shifts back and forth. Dunno if this is too complicated, but it sure would be cool.

that would be nice... for the fact that if two ppl are competing in a power struggle, they would press the turbo and hold the l and r click to add more power to it. If you run out of ki, the l and r click thing still helps, thus, making the beams, bigger as the ps continues.. This is a great suggestion. but it would be harder for other players to fight w/ the ground shaking and all.

He disintegrates like cell when he PS'ed gohan.. :D

No i think that would still be the same, just an explosion and a flying body.
It would be great to see some sparks flying around..

This is nice in the shw#ows, because it's all about this one struggle. This is not the case of the game. Maybe there could be some flashes or something above a certain struggling-powerlevel, but nothing more.

the electricity effect would be cool. maybe they could also code in something for u to overpower an enemy. like u hold Lclick to normaly add power to ur ps. then u press Rclick to add a power boost all at once. it would add like 10-20% of ur total power into the blast and they could make it look like when goku was shooting a kamehameha at frieza when frieza was charging him. every time he put more energy into the beam it would have a 'lump' of energy going thru the beam. then when it hit the head it would get bigger and would add more energy to the beam all at once.

It sounds like it would be cool, but it would probably greatly decrease fps.

this all should be in the game, sadly the half life engine is slightly on the old side, but still some of it could be implimented, like i get into a massive beam struggle and no matter how much power i put in it it still looks like a bright peice of string, its so thin and puney, plus the whole thing about the big ball of energy in the middle and and sending big wods of energy down the beams is all good, but think about what beam struggling looks like, its god awful, like you hit some one with a beam he blocks but he looks about a metre to the side of the beam, and same with beam struggles they all go wonky and go at funny angles, so i dont see how those things could work being the way beam struggles and what not currently look like, if it were in there it would make it all the worse to look at

I agree. If they can't put most of the stuff in it, At least implement a little bit of special effects, instead of just the same beams that are just pushing each other like real ppl. do. It doesn't look much like a power struggle if you ask me.

I think PS has not been developed on much so far, this is why it is still a bit buggy (players stuck out to the sides of beams) and doesn't really work too good, although it will feed the starving masses for now.

I think that when PS starts, the two beams should lock into a straight line between the two people struggling. This wouldn't just flick, it would have to animate the beams to become a straight line between them. Then no matter what anyone shoots into the beam to add to the PS, it should not push the struggle beam off in a direction. This way when someone loses - THEY LOSE and get hit.

Right now the beams can shoot of in any old direction which is pointless in most cases.

I think the team will add extra FX to the struggles. Look at the extra FX they've added already in the minor update. New aura bend FX when you power up, fixed piccolo's SBC so it looks cool, ki blasts with tails etc. This was only in a minor update, so in major updates there is probably a lot more they are going to add they just are keeping secret all the while. And the HL engine may be old and not support much but look at what ESF has got going already. They are pushing it to its limits and beyond. Most people nowadays will have a system that can handle such FX too. (Sorry to those that dont! *laugh* i mean *cry* ... *laugh*)

I like phrack50 idea, but it has been asked "What About Dieing in A PS", heres my idea:

2 people start a PS, they duke it out, but someone has to lose sometime, right. well instaed of just having the beams explode and throw the guy across the level, give it the same affect as if he is blocking the beam. What i mean is, when the person lose's, have the winning beam stay intact and keep going with the person atached to the head of the beam slowly killing that person till it hits the wall or another player, we could also maybe, have the winning player of the PS control the beam, allowing him to steer the beam in another direction, like gohan does againest cell, when it hits cell, gohan turns the beam so it fires upwards into space.

well that my two cents on this idea, over all, everyone had good ideas on this thread, later all

i think that is how PS operates now. Except for the winner controlling the beam. The only difference is, that if the heads of the beams hit a player they explode. This is what makes PS boring at the moment, if the heads aren't lined up between the two players, then no one gets hurt for it as the beams float off the other side of the map.

I think your idea is a good one but. Just so long as it doesn't take forever for them to get pushed back.
