I usually have a main playlist that I edit and listen to all the time, unfortunate I tend not to save them since they usually change.
These playlists usually have a thousand or so tracks in them, so sometimes I accidentally choose "Play in Winamp" instead of "Enqueue in Winamp" and that removes the playlist entirely to that one track.

Is there any sure way I can crash winamp purposefully, thus returning to the previous playlist selection from the last time I closed it?

Perhaps if you've tried using the Task Manager to close the Winamp process?

ctrl+shift+esc brings up the task manager directly, then kill the process (process, not task).
I do the same thing when I accidently play something^^

Awesome thanks, didn't realize Winamp does not save the playlist from it's process being closed.
