Hl crashes on creating a new game !!!!

If I want to start a new LAN / Internet game, Half-Life crashes and it shows "program error".
What can I do? My HL-versios is 1110 and I donloaded esf without any problems

i know that its like its writing

Creating Server or somethjing like that (If you have console!)

but is it a pop up or something like that?

yes, somthing like a pop-up. HL crashes/closes and a new window is shown, with this error message. ;/

I'm german, but I try to translate...
"hl.exe caused an error and will be closed. Please start it again. ..."

Try reinstalling it.

If you are running winxp you should update so that there is nolonger any compatibility issues with Half Life.

How did you manage to get it fixed in the end?

Well, I deleted all the esf files in my hl directory, and downloaded the esf from fileplanet (see esforces.com). When it was finished, I installed it. and worked.

chances are u dled a bad version or it got corrupted somehow during the dl
