Yo, welcome to the forums!

Now yes, you will need Half-Life to play ESF. Without it, the mod will not run.

You can purchase it from Steam itself. The price will depend on where you are from, $9.99 in US, but hopefully the link will convert to show the price in your region.

Well last I heard, there were a couple official servers which had people playing. There are also fan servers which see frequent usage. Although they might not be as populated as they once were.

Currently we are all waiting for the next and final version of ESF to release. You can leave your Release opinion in this thread.

Once this version comes out, the player population will skyrocket. This doesn't mean that people aren't playing now though, just that the numbers are relatively less.

Before you buy Half-Life, you should know that the version of the game that's out right now is from 2004. The graphics aren't that great, not that many people still play it, and those that do still play it tend to be very good. You'll probably get destroyed if you can find other people playing.

Here's a trailer for the version that's out right now so you know what it looks like

Infinite size as far as I know. But the creator of the map can limit it with a red shield (cube) around the map which is very similar to the Budokai map limit on the xbox, playstation and wii games. I know there has been an image posted with an example but I just can't find it.

Hey as these guys can never bother to make a move into the game they are on the forum of, maybe I can answer your questions.

There are several servers (or well a handful to be frank)

Some nonsteam servers, which are the most popular because of the immense amount of nonsteam players on esf.

However we have "legal" servers too, for instance my server in Frankfurt password is NoNoobs .. and I think the american duel server copied our password so the password should be the same there.. rest are public I believe... nonsteam or not... you will get to know the people on the community fast!

Shadi is one of the most active ESF players out there, so I'd listen to him if I were you.

Lets just say there was a person who kicked me out, on Sub's request, in my first foray into ESF Dueling because I was being a nublet. ^_^

And also from what I've gathered from all the time I've been here!

Beware of the "non" steam servers. There are quite a few speed hack users on them. Was playing a bit yesterday and i met 2 within 1 hour. Both using the hacked steam version (since there really is no non steam only steam and hacked steam)

In any case them touching you is instakill.

Also for some reason the .lt server kinda lagged for me :S

That's the price server owners pay to have players.
