Hi, Im new here and i had a couple of questions. I hope some of you are willing to help me. I do know some stuff about computers but not alot. Thanks in advance everyone.

1.Will my computer be able to run all the next-gen games?(including esf)
specs: GATEWAY pentium4 3.0ghz/ht,512mbddr(333mhz 2700),160gighd,ATI Radeon9800PRO 128mb(pre- ordered...not here yet) 17 lcd display

2.My computer makes this kind of chugging sound, is that normal?I think its because of the 230watt power supply but im not sure. I called Gateway, and they reccomended a power supply. I need to find something exactly like this or similar. Their price is outrageous, so would anyone mind helping me find a better deal?

heres the power supply they reccomended
http://accessories.gateway.com/Acce...6805/Power+Supplies_316811/1991780_ProdDetail

And last but not least, do you guys think i got ripped off on my computer? I got it a couple of weeks ago and i still have warranty. I got the computer with all the specs mentioned above(except for vid card) and mouse, keyboard, and 17inch LCD display for 1100$Sometimes i think i woulda been better off making it a cutsom built pc, but specs like those are expensive and the lcd alone is 400 bucks so im still not sure wether or not to return it, what do you guys think?

Thanks for all the help in advance, its really appreciated

I would get the Power supply they recommended because the system you have probably will need more power.

The computer you preordered will be fine, it will run Half Life 2 with ease and Doom 3, those 2 just for example.

First off that power supply that they recommend isn't terribly over priced. Second the price you paid isn't really bad either. The most expensive thing there is the LCD monitor, LCD's are still to expensive IMO.

The one you listed will be a perfect machine to play games on, so Yes.

Cool, now about the noise question(second question) the computer at times makes a really weird noise. I called tech support and they said it just might be another fan kicking in, but im not sure. I think its the power supply. Im thinking of getting one of ebay, but I dont know what to look for.

 Only things I think it could be is that your fans are misplaced and making your case vibrate or the fan itself. Your CDrom might be messed up, put in wrong, or not in all the way. Could be your proccessor fan going to fast and shaking the motherboard itself.

There are alot of possiblites, try opening the side of the computer and look for where the noise is coming from.

The best place to get computer supplies is Fry's, no other place can really top it.

Is it a clicking noise, like click ... click ... click, if thats the case its usually the hard drive. It could be a wire inside the case rubbing against one of the case fans. Try and describe the noise a little if you can, and like XsilentlyXdiesX said open the case and listen to see where the noise is coming from.

hmmmm describe the noise? The click click click sound happens when the comp turns on, i think thats when its loading the programs in startup. But the noise that worries me is kind of a zimm noise it kinda sounds like the hard drive is working, but im not sure. Usually it goes on for about 10-15min then stops then in about another 2 hours in starts back up again, then stops

it can be that the computer isn't put together right, like a motherboard of 333mhz with a memory of 400mhz.
it can also be that the power surply gives to mutch power to the hd so that the hd go's to fast for no nois.(hapend to me ones)
check everything, post if you fint anything wrong.(better not to disturbe the pc insite to maintain garantie)

I think its the hard drive. If its not coming from the hard drive I think its the CDrom using the a cd thats in there.

Its not that I dont want to.... its just that my computer is like in this special computer desk, I'd have to wait for the sound then immediately open it before the sound turns off. The computer desk space for the tower isnt that big so I'd have to take it out, take off teh case, hope the sound doesnt go off before i can tell were its coming from, then put the case back on, then somehow put it into the computer disk again.

Leave it open when its running, my computer is open 24/7 nothing from out side harms it. Just close it after you find out where the sound is coming from.
