help with 3ds

whenever i go to rotate move or do anything to an object it will only move in one direction and it will only be Z so say if im rotating it illl click on rotate click on my object usually a circle comes up with Z,X and Y but it doesnt and no matter what when i drag it or rotate or whatever im doing it'll only go in the Z direction plz plz help

Ok so i got a picture and in the picture i selected the rotate tool and as u can see there is no bubble or circle that has ZXY anywhere and i can only rotate in the one direction and im using max 9

Oh, well **** if I know, I havn't upgraded to max9 yet, sorreh, never had this problem .
