Hey all i have forgotten how you fade one pic over another could some1 please tell me how to do it again thanx

First you need two layers, each with it's own image. Then, you need to select the top layer (it's usually at the top of the layers list) and double click on it. It should take you to the "Layer Style" panel. In that panel, just click on the drop-down box next to "Blend Mode" and pick "Overlay". After that, you can mess around with the "Opacity" slider to control how much of the image beneath the top layer can be seen.

Now, if you just want to use the "Normal" blend mode, then just mess around with the "Opacity" slider.

Normal blend mode, 50% opacity:
