I have been researching guns as of late; how they work, the different ammo, the parts, etc. I am doing this because one of the characters in an animation I hope I make use firearms, amongst other weaponry, but I did not want to BS my may around (like giving him dual Desert Eagles without even knowing what was wrong with that scenario).

Now of course I do not need super realism, it is over-the-top after all, but at first I tried to single it down to a "heavily modified" M1911. However he would have to use 8 round magazine for ease of carry and aesthetics.

So I am thinking "Do I want him reloading for every 8 shots?" So then I look at the Beretta 92fs and apparently its 9mm magazine are more around 15 than the M1911's .45APC

Again, I only know half of what I am talking about, probably less, but if someone with decent knowledge of fire arms could point me in the right direction, that would be great.

-I want the guy to have a decent supply of ammo. Nothing ridiculous though
-I do not want a glock
-selective fire would be nice
-I was hoping that a compensator would provide nice aesthetics, but what happens when I want him to use a suppressor?
-He is a "special agent", in a lack of a specific term at the moment, so he will be in situations where there are many enemies at mid to close distance.

If you want a handgun, give him the Mk23 Socom, Solid Snake's weapon of choice.(12 or 15(can't remember) rounds of .45 ammo)
If you want something bigger...give him a M82 Barret....definitly a Barret.(.50 cal, 10 round, Semi-automatic sniper rifle)
If you want a submachine gun, give him a P90, most awesome weapon ever.(50 rounds, 5.7x28mm rounds)

Anything Glock. They shoot where you aim. That's a plus.

What happens when the acid leaks while he is pumping it D:. It wouldn't stand a chance to a NERF gun!

Thanks for the suggestions so far. It does have to be a semi-automatic pistol, I probably should have mentioned that in the first post. Dual pistols? Cliche' I know, but it works for his character. And dual wielding is always cool-beans.

I actually looked at the Mk23, since it seemed to fit all of the requirements of a "special forces" objective. The glock, while nothing against it's function, seems aesthetically boring for the character. But I did not realize the mk23 had that kind of magazine.

Now what about the USP Match? That can fire both 9mm and .45 right? Also, what makes a +P 9mm ammo different from regular 9mm ammo? I know it means more pressure so is that like ballistics velocity?

Reccomend a hidden snubnose revolver. Backup plans are good ideas.

That's actually not a bad idea. Never even considered it.

I never knew they actually had useful Raging Bulls with those kinds of barrels haha.

But I think I may have decided on the USP Match.

Now would it be possible to say this is "modified" to accept a sound suppressor and the ability to be fired in full-auto?
