This will probably be closed for spam, but meh.

When you first put on the HEV suit in Kleiners lab, he says something like "I see the suit fits you like a glove, well, atleast the glove parts do."

Open up the console and type in thirdperson... the only visible models showing are gloves/arms, and it stays that way for the rest of the game. Oh smart little Valve, youre oh-so-funny :p

Why make models the player would (without messing around in the console :p) never see?
You had a model in HL1, but that's because there needed to be a Gordon model for HLDM.

It's even weirder going in third person when you're on the boat or the buggy. :p

then why post it??

and the reason for this is because: wtf should the game have to render something that isnt gonna be seen??? in pretty much ALL FPS games, the viewmode is such that there are only arms and weapons modeled, because you dont need to see the rest.

In any fps that has a multiplayer mode, all models are fully done. Obviously Valve didnt have a multiplayer mode for hl2 in mind.

Well multiplayer is possible in HL2, it can be done with a hack. It's only so long before they fully implement player models and include MP into the GUI so people don't have to put up with CS: Source any more.

If you want to play MP type into the console:

disconnect
maxplayers 4
net_start
sv_lan 0
deathmatch 1
map (you need to make a map or download a test one)
restart

Check out the Deathmatch player models here:

Then hand out ure i.p and have people connect manually through the console, before you know it, multiplayer manipulator battle, Oh yeah, and nice find Sicron :D

Another nice little thing in HL2 is...after the Helicopter/Boat battle (where it drops loads of mines and you have to gun it down) look around for two large sewage pipes, you'll be able to follow one of them along, it's pretty trecherous, there's radiation and stuff, but when you get to the end there's a wounded Vortigaunt with a bunch of special messages for you ('use' him repeatedly)

Well, when you're in firstperson mode, your actual player model isn't being drawn on your screen anyway. If you had one, it'd make no difference to your client unless you're using thirdperson.

In HL1 (and most likely in HL2 as well, I just haven't checked) all of the faces of the view models (v_MODEL) were deleted. Why? Well, why render something that will never be seen by anyone?

Just a question out of curiosity to anyone who has Half-Life : Source - is there a Gordon model in it?
