I am having some Internet difficulties. The Internet itself is really really slow, pages takes ages to load. It has been doing this ever I started using the uTorrent software few days ago. Every time I am attempting to use it, it slows down the Internet dramatically.

Now, don't go and say "well duh, torrents also uses your upload rate, etc". I limited the upload so it uses up 1/4th of my upload rate. Yet, the internet is really slow still. I am even using traffic control software, but still no good.

I am wondering if uTorrent is really the cause of this. Because if I don't use it at all, and I reboot my router, everything works fine again as it should be. Any idea's / suggestions?

Are you using a linksys router? More specifically a WRT54G version?

Hm. I remember my old belkin router doing the same thing, but on programs like Limewire. I never did find out what the problem was, lol. I just went out and got a decent router, and haven't seen the problem since.

Start with turning off your firewall,
aslo don't just limit your upload, limit the maximum ammount of connections aswell!

I don't use any firewall from as far as I know. (Besides m y router's firewall). And I could limit the connections, I haven't tried that. But then, I won't get a lot of download speed, will I?

You don't get alot of download speed now, do you?

[edit=adding some sense]
when taking it from the default setting of 250 to 125 you won't notice a speed difference
as every connection could be to a either fast or slow seeder

it's theoretical possible to get a faster download speed with one connection then with ten depending on how fast the person's line is you're connected to

"Peers per torrent" has been set already to 125 which is default which has been set to 100, and the max connections are 1000. I'll set it to 500.

I've also had the same issue, but it has never been limited to just uTorrent, Azures, Bitcomet etc all do it to me as well, I just figured it was overhead, And my resolve was just leave my computer online at night, and download then.
But something that caught my interest awhile ago... I was downloading a torrent, Tried accessing my router... And it took so god damn long it wasn't funny, as soon as the torrents were turned off, All was fine, Even after changing the amount of connections etc that uTorrent would handle, And limiting uploads and downloads there was no change, So I suspect your in the same boat as I am, And its just a dodgy router.

Still try your hand at BitComet, Try Azures Anything helps :)
And I gather you have Port Forwarded the ports required for uTorrent?

Try doing a ping test to say... www.esforces.com
to do it, do the following
1) Start
2) Run
3) Type: cmd - press enter
4) type: ping www.esforces.com

If all goes well and there isn't any errors, then nothing is blocking your internet connection.
Also what browser are you using? Firefox? If so what version?

Tried that before, gives me timeouts. Besides that point, browsers has nothing to do with it. FireFox, Internet Explorer, they all have the same effect. uTorrent dramaticly slows down my internet, and I believe my router just can't handle the connections.
