Have trouble with Counter Strike

I am have these troubles with CS

I installed Steam and I play half life, cs, team fortress... using steam. But the problem is that it take to long to start the games. Also most of the time I lag even though I have cable. Is there a way i can play cs, half life... with out using steam?

Your question was answered in your first counter-strike thread.

You know this already, it's called half-life. You can only play CS 1.6 through steam. You can only play CS 1.5 and below in HL. CS Retail is the same as HL Retail, you cannot dl HL or CS RETAIL, but you can DL Steam which allows you to play newer versions of Counter-Strike.

You must by HL or CS Retail and patch them if you want to CS without steam.
