Half-Life Error

I'm having this Half-Life error when ever I choose to play on an esf server :S the name of the error and the stuff that it says is

Half-Life FileSystem_Steam Error
SteamStartup(0xf,0x13fb60) failed with error 108: The local Steam Service is not running.

What can I do to fix this because I really wanna play esf again.

tried asking on the steam forums?

I can't do a search for you on there as they have disabled the search function - so post over there and they should fix your problem for you
