"Earlier today, Christophe Ramboz, VU Games president of international operations, told Reuters the source code theft would result in a four month delay, pushing Half-Life 2 back to April 2004"

Ya thats what i thought, whty would you delay it just because it got hacked.... the longer they wait the less people aregoing to buy it bc all the people are already going to have the game...

Well we know what you said, no use quoting yourself to point it out, I believe we can all read.

Hopefully Valve has the same deal as delivery pizza, if it's late it's free.

Should be that way Magus :\
Anyway this is old news, but on MegaGames they said that ebGames has the release date set to November 27th, and Sierra was asked, they said ask Valve, there is really no 'official' release date yet, but I would expect after 2003.

ebGames has had the release date as November 27th long before the "hacking."

Besides, what got stolen was a playable beta that was used at the E3 showing.

The reason for the delay is that Valve now has to rewrite parts of the game. Meanwhile scramble around and figure out what the hell to do about all this.

Someone released the source code publicly, and that's why they have to rebuild it. What's the use of selling multi-thousand dollar licenses to publishing companies if they can just download it off of the internet and reverse engineer or modify it and call it their own? And what about hackers who will crawl over the code with a fine pick and comb and design aimbots and discover exploits that they can abuse online? It's for those reasons that Valve has modify their code.

It's disappointing, but I don't see anyone in this thread actively assisting Valve in the coding department, so all I can really say is to be quiet and let Valve work. They aren't there to serve your every whim, they're doing this for themselves and for money, not for you. Don't act like they're beating you up by delaying the release of a program that has never touched the market. You act as though they're coming into your house and taking your TVs.
