That is slightly interesting as even N-link routers mostly cap out around 150 mbps. As for the price of fiber; it's cheap and it's fast. Doesn't surprise me.
Glad US people finally get some decent infrastructure, docsis 2 was killing you guys :)

Classified.
It's probably way faster. You'll have to download from multiple server though. Single servers with 1 GBit/s uplink are rare enough, but even when you download from one, you won't be the only one.

It can only go as fast as the slowest point in the network

Well if 700 is the slowest point, that's a damn fast slowest point!

Indeed.

It's just you get people who will read 700Mbps (Not necessarily anyone here) And go woo then only get 100Mbps because their router can't cope and then yell at some poor employee over the phone because their "Internet is broken"

But if you're smart enough to notice it's not fast enough you should be smart enough to realise your hardware isn't up to par

Yes, lets limit ourselves to what the private sector actually needs right now and halt all progress and research. Who gives a hoot about a proper infrastructure anyway. ;)

Less lag in video games? The ability to send multiple, or large files to one another in a shorter amount of time? Asking that, to me, is like asking 'why improve upon anything?' Dial up worked, why go with dsl? Dsl worked, why get cable? Cable worked, why get fios?
