'gfx/shell/btns_main.bmp' error

when i try to open it it says

could not open bitmap file 'gfx/shell/btns_main.bmp'

please help me

That's the first time I've seen that error.

Are you using Steam?
Are you using the latest ESF version? (1.2.3)

If so, you could try a reinstall I suppose. Or you could try creating a .bmp file and naming it btns_main and placing it in the gfc/shell folder.

yes im using steam. and i have retried installing 4 times maybe more. and when i look for the file its there but i dont know why it wont open it. im using esf1.2.3. oh also when the windows comes up it comes up as a half-life program window

Alright, that shouldn't be happening.

Has your Steam updated your Half-Life all the way?
Also, have you tried running Half-Life before you installed ESF?

oh i didnt update i shud try that. and yes i did run halflife once before i installed ESF

i just tried to update and it said there were none avalible

Are you sure you're using Steam? Steam should do that sort of thing automatically.
