Gears of War is phenomenal. I just got back from playing co-op with my brother for ****ing hours. This is one of the most immersive games I've ever played.

When your playing on a 50" TV in high def with surround sound, and your running full bore in a rodeo run as a 12 foot tall monster Berserker is screaming like a banshee while it's footsteps are thundering right behind you, and your heartbeat actually starts to quicken. That's when you know that this game is awesome.

Like SaiyanPrideXIX said, this is the absolute king of console FPS, Halo has nothing on this game. It's one of the best shooters I've ever played, and the game alone is worth $500 (Canadian) for a 360. I know I'll be getting one, and I'll have zero regrets.

i don't have the game yet, but its probably going to be the next 360 game i buy, i played it today at my friends house and it was AMAZING. Also chainsawing the enemies is like one of the most satisfying things ever.

o/ I tried GoW for the first time today, and it kicks ass.

In a lot of ways, it reminds me of Killzone.

Both games are good at conveying that sense of being in an all-out war. That new cover system is nice and tight too.

GoW Is a awesome game however the online needs some serious balance, basically there needs to be a way to counter the chainsaw, as shooting them only proglongs them for a few seconds, if they have another person there you still get split in half.

Also a few bugs need to be adressed, but other then that i am in no way unhappy with my purchase.

I find the shotgun to be very helpful in dealing with a chainsaw rush. Either way the default assault rifle makes them drop it with each hit so if you keep them in your sights in can keep it down. Again if they have two guys, you might get sawed anyway--but generally speaking you will be spraying lead into their guts as they rush you so they probably won't make it if your team, sticks with you.

I actually just started playing this three days ago. I bought a 360 2 days after it came out, and there were hardly any games out for it then. Tried P Dark Zero, which sucked, Oblivion & Battlefield 2 (which kicked ass). Anyway, Gears of War is very fun in co-op mode--it's addictive, and the gameplay's intense. Of course it's just another shooter (which I'm tired of), but you can expect some advanced gameplay, great physics, mediocre (if not below, in my opinion) plotline, a friendly camera, superb graphics & some cool interactive elements(that reminded me of Resident Evil 4)--you can tell when there's some real commitment and imagination put into game development. I haven't tried this on XBox Live yet, but I'm sure it's really fun in co-op... and those versus matches get pretty addicting, too. Good game, if you have a 360 and you haven't played this you're missing out on the best game on the console.

you can play splitscreen with a bud and both of you go online from one console, etc.

I was really hoping so. I hate that not being capable with the PS2 Online...

I really don't like much First Person Shooters (...though this is third person =X), but I find Gear of War very enjoyable.

I love the erd person set up. Instead of just staring at a gun just magically appear in a set of hands, you see your bulky character take out the guns he has on his back and RUNNING with them screams "**** is gonna go down". Personally, the Sniper Rifle and Shotgun are my favroites.

You can litterally blast a person peice by piece, and if you're lucky, you might see some jiggly organs =D.

I havent played it yet.. but i saw someone else play it in a gameshop.. well thats mean.. but maybe better because my drool would have jammed the fragile Xbox controller..my jaw dropped on the floor because of the cutscene where that commander gets a sword planted between his guts

Yeah. Apparently you can't alter the default weapons you start with, but the rest are changeable. It's pretty cool--for example, my friends and I think the sniper rifle is counter-intuitive to this game, so we replace it with the Torque Bow. Makes for very interesting matches!

i have my xbox... but the bastards didnt send me a power cable or a hook up cable... hopefully the additional items i require will be here thursday... if not i'm going to steal them

first they were like wait 2-3 business days, thenit was 3-5, now its 5-8, then call them if i havetn recieved anything yet. got my console back last week, i'm pissed. gears of war has just been collecting dust on my desk

Booom! The Boomers are ****in' hilarious. Near the end of the game you can hear them speaking to each other. They sound like big and stupid animals. You just can't help but laugh. Also, fighting Berserkers was just amazingly fun.

.. Slightly disappointed with the ending, and the final boss... Dumb. Really dumb fight.
