I hate to break this to you but the vast majority of "childish" video games are in fact full of gamplay. To name a few there are *deep breath* Zelda, Mario, Sonic, Pokemon (Terrible series maybe but it was pretty revolutionary as games go) Banjo-Kazooie, etc.. And those are actual serieses of games. Let me make this clear, I'll even use bold to hammer in the point: Gameplay is more important than graphics! I can't make it clearer than that. Games with great graphics and crap gameplay do one thing, fail. Games with great gameplay and crap graphics can succeed but it can never work vice versa.

and true gameplay is another major factor in consoles... But if Gameplay was the GREATEST factor in consoles There wouldn't be a need for a new console to pop out ever 1-2 years.

if u say that if gameplay would be the main factor in games that there wouldnt be a new console every 1 or 2 years, then i will say something.

the gameplay needs more power. look at zelda game number one where u play sidescroling, and then the new on n64 (zelda - ocarina of time) where u play 3rd person like. the levels and the controls arent the same, but they are both cult. and make fun.

without new processor power and that other ****, there wont be new gameplay things. metroid prime, 3d 3rd/1st person. super metroid sidescroller. and i think that metroid prime will be a hit.

If gameplay was all that we would still be playing on nintendo 64's and playstations, they're games had all the gameplay kiddies could cry about, heck even super nintendo had games with semi decent gameplay? if game play is all that, why not just make games for those systems?!?!

But that isn't true, consoles are upgraded to push games and gameplay further than possible in normal consoles. Mario 64 could never been made on the SNES, Mario Sunshine could never have been made on the N64. This clear things up for you?

And please stop calling them kiddy. Kiddy, if anything, is to be shocked by pretty graphics and buy something because it looks good appose to actually being good. Which is what you seem to do..

New consoles being pushed to increase their GRAPHICS capabilties! ( and get more money from kiddies parents =p )
They make GAMES WITH GAMEPLAY in mind. The only possible gameplay consideration when making a console, is controller setup or new graphical capabilities (e.g. decent 3D gameplay from Super nes -> N64). And the only reasons u listed above for gameplay increases are graphically related, those older systems couldn't handle the graphics of those games.

Calling people who buy consoles: kiddie, childish, kiddy etc..
is fair. You buy something stupid, its only fair that you recieve critism.

THRRS! It isn't fair! Some call Anime "Childish" or "Porn" and criticise the people who watch it. That isn't fair, it isn't even close to being fair.

Your oppinion (remember this word as you seem to think what you speak is fact rather than oppinion) is that consoles are kiddy and are upgraded for purely graphical reasons. My oppinion was that consoles are just as adult as any P.C (Hell they are P.Cs if you think about it, Personal Computers that don't do as much as the big ones) and consoles are upgraded for gameplay reasons.

I'll admit my previous argument was flawed, of course consoles are upgraded for graphical as well as gameplay reasons. But your argument was the same. You believe that consoles are upgraded to make them look better alone and I am arguing that both are considered.

In fact, the more I think about it, consoles are upgraded to push every aspect of a game to its fullest limit. Proccessing power is increased so the game runs smoother, graphics are increased so it looks better, controlls are played around with so you can use it better, sound is .. whatever they do to sound to make it better.. etc. I am now officially changing my argument. Consoles are upgraded in order to push everything apose to one thing.

Does that end the argument?

Gameplay was never graphic driven . . . and it isn't now.

Graphics have always been important, and certainly make some gameplay possible.

But one only needs to remember names like Legend of Dragoon and other all polish no gameplay titles to remember that graphics aren't everything.

Well it is colorful and some of their games appear more childish.

Nintendo made SNES. Metroid, Mario and FFVI were for SNES. nuff' said.

ps2 gta3 gtavc *(made me mad i bout gta3) and rf2 was ok

GC resident evil (graphics better gameplay then first one) ssbm and mario sunshine.. (i never actually played this cuz i got discouraged in the begining)
games to come metroid prime phantasy star and tahts all i want

xbox = obvious one halo (online gameplay is sluggish plus crashes more than dmz) moto gp (online gameplay is TIGHT)
games to come mechassault (11/16) brute force (12/14?) and knights of the old republic (12/?)

i liek the GC cuz it has good multiplayer games that my ps2 doesnt. the gc is lame cuz of the mini disk drive that = no already implemented cd or dvd capability

i liek my big black computer cuz i dont need to by a mem card (those get expensive) how it can rip cds to its hrad drive and of course the system link

i havent played with my ps2 due to the release of gta3 then soon after gtavc :\ ;( :\ :S

GCN OWNS X-Box, x-Box is going to kill nillgates, and every one is buying x-box because it has the most power, and they want to be cool, well none of x-box games can even use half of its power. And Super Mario Sunshine was a hella nice game, just cause the tittle seems a bit weird, does'nt meen the game is not good! I hate x-box lovers that dont know **** about videogames and they think the x-box is doing best in sales. The sales are like this. GBA, PS2, GCN, X-Box. And the nintendo sales will boost like no other this 18th, Metroid Prime. It is suppose to be the greatest game ever to come to any of the new systems.
