I've read reviews and got second opinions on the power supply, should be sufficient. And I don't really feel the need for a DvD-Rw drive.

The 350 is alright for what he has plus one more drive, I see no reason to upgrade it to 400+

If he's serious about his computer, and wants it to be future proof. He should make it the best he possibly can.

It's pretty good to me ~_~, and it's going to be an incredible step up from what I have, so I'm going to be very happy.

While it's true that it isn't entirely future proof (no PC truly is) he hasn't made any claims to a future proof PC, only one that he intends to get in the future. Perhaps you need to reread the topic?

It is certainly not what I would call a weak PC.

Yea, I'm making this PC because I'm honestly tired of my slow computer. I can't play doom 3 worth a damn, and my slow FSB will bring Half Life 2 to a halt. And yes, the prices are from Newegg.

Unless you have an awesome AGP videocard to go with that, why not wait a bit and get a PCI express mobo? If you do want to stick with that mobo, why not get the deluxe version (if you're not already getting it). That way you can always extend the thing to run with 2 80 Gb discs in Raid-0.

Your board doesn't support dual channel, it would be a waste to get DC ram and not have it supported by your board.

BFG 6800 NU OC. It's pretty awesome for my tastes.

AMD isn't starved for bandwidth like Intel is, so I did take that into consideration along with the price of upgrading to Socket 939.

Kinda low on hard drive space, if you ask me.

As for the processor--why a 2800? You could upgrade to a 3200 for just pennies more. (Make sure you get the version with 1MB 2nd level cache, not 512kb--the difference in price is cheap, and performance difference is significant)

The performance difference isn't enough for the 50 dollar incriment in price, atleast not in my view. And I've pretty much reached my dollar limit as of now ;o.

I don't store hundreds of gigabytes of anime on my hard drives (=P), so 80 gig is fine for a while.

I can't talk about prices because I'm sure they're not in Australian dollars but it looks as if you got a pretty solid machine there.
