Hi,
Before i pointout my problem i wanna inform you that i've read some threads before but none of them worked.

My specs:
Quad-Core Q6600 2.6GHz
4Gigs RAM (Dual Chan)
ATI HD 5770 1G
Win 7 Ultimate 64Bit

I get alot of FPS drops about 40 loss and about 6 choke.
tried combination of configuration files, tried lower res + lower fx effect...
None of it works, my game still chokes!
and btw, it happens in certain maps.

Any ideas?

thanks in advance,
Kfir Zamir.

Are you using OpenGL, software or Direct3D as video mode? (can be found in the options menu in-game).

currently not at home,
but i use OpenGL. Tried D3D but the results are the same..
software makes my game go crappy... not only graphics.

How long since you updated your drivers?

And what's your maximum FPS?

I dont Trust those STEAM updates personally.

Then again some drivers that are newer are not better.

You should try experimenting with that, but i suggest you always get your drivers from the official site.

i've tried to uninstall and reinstall the display drivers from the official website. still, nothing changes.

didnt try that one yet, ill try as soon as i get home.. ^^

btw, something did help me, but just abit..

I changed the "autoexec.cfg"'s name and created a new autoexec.cfg with the configuration from groovy's + Mr.Satan's posts about fps problems.
my fps got alot better - without choke or loss BUT my fps still drops from 100-40...

Could you observe a bit what exactly is going on at the time when the FPS drop. Chances are there is an effect playing that is causing issues.

And if that effect can be disabled through a console command, your problem could be fixed. FRAPS it.

Perhaps your video card is overheating? A card like that shouldn't have issues with ESF, but maybe the fan on it (assuming it has one) broke and the card isn't cooling properly?

what do you mean? just stand floating in mid-air in the middle of the map waiting for fps drops?

My video card is actually 2 months old. and mw3 runs perfectly fine so does DC-online...

I mean did you ever notice any specific times when the FPS drops. Like an attack being fired, or something else like that going on when the FPS drops for you.

Does your system also have an onboard intel video card in addition to the ATI card? This problem seems familiar

Well, if that onboard intel graphics card is what Half-Life is using to render ESF... That would be bad.

Maybe you just have a really crappy graphics card.
