Take your pick. Here's a video which demonstrates Euphoria in comparison with normal physics.

Are... are you being serious?

Euphoria all the way.

Artificial Intelligence > simple rag doll physics.

Well I've heard people complain that Euphoria looks silly at times, so I made a poll. Personal preference, really. I like how random it is.

I think I like Euphoria better from what I'm seeing. However, it's not to say that at times I'd imagine that Ragdoll physics is better for certain situations (Like a large explosion that kills a lot of surrounding people, most would die but It'd be awesome to have a mixture of Euphoria too). Seeing a mixture of both in one game would be awesome as both suit different times IMO, but if a character spills a hot coup of coffee on himself for example, I'd like to see him freak out using Euphoria.

I've yet to see any ingame footage of GTA IV that shows off some Euphoria action. Is it actually in the game? In any case, Euphoria all the way, it makes it look much more lifelike.

Sillier than normal ragdolls, Origin??

Normal ragdolls allow a people's knees to twist forward and flail all about the place. That's what I'd call silly. ;x

I'm talking flailing arms and legs here. :p

And Sicron, Euphoria kicks in every time you're hit by a car, hit someone else with your car, shoot them, whatever. I've seen guys being shot in the leg and trying to crawl away and take cover. People being thrown out of their cars hanging on to the doors trying to stop you. Being barely hit by a car makes you wobble a bit. And so forth. It rocks.

EDIT: Watch this, Sicron. http://youtube.com/watch?v=SyZjTFlnbAI

I've messed around with the NaturalMotion program by Euphoria and I have to say it's a hell of a lot more realistic than ragdoll physics.

Edit

Err... The program was actually called Endorphin, not Natural Motion. NaturalMotion is the name of the company. I apologize for the mistake.

They each have their place.

Bioshock's semi rags semi eupho looked retarded, for example.

1 hit kills end in a ragdoll, that will never change.

You're right. They're not that different though.

After experiencing euphoria in GTA IV, I cringe every time I see the rag dolls in Skate.

Euphoria physics.

If people are getting thrown in mid-air, they need to display human like actions like covering their head in mid air, not just carelessly floating in the air like a lifeless doll. The ragdoll physics don't work with people, because people are not dolls.

Could you imagine the euphoria engine or at least one of it's successors used as the program to control an android's motions?

Funny how long it takes for that stuff to hit the industry. That's late 90's computer animation technology, see: http://gvu.cc.gatech.edu/animation/Areas/humanMotion/humanMotion.html for physical animation of athletes. The vault is particularly impressive. It actually originates from robotics where researchers have been dealing with motion under physical constraints for way longer. So, this technology comes from android motion :p
