I'm going to have to contradict Grega and close this because this going south pretty fast.
As a closing statement, what you've seen in videos so far is footage that likely took a while to make to avoid showing any bugs. Just because the gameplay looks bug-free and complete in a video doesn't mean that it actually is. You have to realize that there's so much more to the game than what has been shown in the videos, but that also means that there are also a bunch of unfinished features as well as potential multiple gamebreaking bugs.
Yes, you're right, the team could release a beta update of the next version but they won't and there really is no reason to do so. If you were there for the Open Beta, the same exact thing would happen where people are going to be unhappy with the product and just complain about things that the team has already stated would be fixed.
Also, your comparison of the team having regular lives with other developers doesn't really make much sense. For starters, a big part of it has to do with other developers being paid, the ESF team isn't receiving any income at all and are doing this on their own time. And even if other development teams are working on free games faster than the ESF team, it still doesn't mater and is a pointless comparison because it's not like every single game developer is busy with the same exact thing in their lives. Some people have more important things to worry about than developing the game at a super fast pace and others don't. It all varies.
If you're truly unhappy with the pace of the development process, feel free to pick up a talent and join the team to help the game come out faster. Nobody is stopping you.
