Well, Gohan is the main character throughout DBZ, Goku s never showcased as the main character. (at least, not in DBZ). So, the story is around Gohan, I don't know about Trunks, tho.... he is pretty minor for a good chunk of the series. Goku would probably be too precious to drop, tho, because a lot of ppl would be familiar with him from DB, I guess.
