mkil, you prob watched the dubbed version... wasnt any of that cut in the subs as far as i can recall.
There isn't a dubbed version of Kai as far as I am aware yet, or it's not very far. I'm talking about Kai, Japanese or English.

Before & After:

Some (but not all) of the gory moments have been edited to a degree along with nudity. In Dragon Ball Z when Piccolo fires his special beam cannon attack at Raditz and Goku, he creates a hole through both of them and a heavy amount of blood is shown, while in Dragonball Kai, no blood is seen at all, save for the holes that Piccolo creates in the centers of their bodies. More recently, in the scene where Krillin blasts a hole through Vegeta, only blood stains are seen in Kai while in Z there is blood coming out of the hole. Similarly, when Vegeta is executed by Frieza, we don't actually see the beam penetrate his chest. Nudity is notably edited as well such as in the first episode of Kai, when ever Goku (as a baby) is shown, his genitals are covered up by making objects that he is sitting on appear to be covering his genitals. In a similar manner in episode 4 of Kai, Gohan's genitals are edited as well by using his tail to cover him when he is shrinking from his Great Ape state to his normal self. All these edits are made quite possibly because Japan's television broadcasting laws have become stricter since Dragon Ball Z has first aired.
I've also heard that "Kai" is very...I dunno, but it's so spliced together, it feels sloppy.

Also, I'm probably one of the few that prefers the original English dub over the Japanese audio. I prefer Japanese audio in all animes except these listed here:

Trigun
Yu Yu Hakusho
DragonBall Z

There are the only ones I've found that their English dubs are really good. Pretty much every other English dub I've heard is so awful I can't stand to watch it and will watch infomercials of nothing else is on TV, instead of it.

My reasons for not like YYH in Japanese? He may be 14, but he sounds like he's 7 years old.

My reasons for not liking DBZ in Japanese? Goku is clearly an older male, yet he sounds 7, just like the guy who did Yusuke's in YYH. I like most of the DBZ Japanese VA, but considering Goku is the star, I find it unacceptable.

I think the DBZ Dub is one of the few really good ones...on the DBZ DVD Remastered edition, I love English dub + Japanese music & sound effects. Great atmosphere.

I've tried to watch DBZ in Japanese, but everytime I'm like 5 minutes in, Goku's voice just drives me crazy and I can't take it. It was acceptable in DB or so...no wait, his DB voice actually sounded more mature...so that's weird.

I actually prefer the way Goku sounds in the original. It has that feeling that when you hear it you know it's the same old innocent Goku and despite growing older still has the same innocent child from the deep in the woods feeling. I have nothing against the funi dub voice and it sounds cool and the VA did a fine job but for me it just feels different, like it's missing something. And despite Masako Nozawa's screeching voice for some reason i abosolutely can't stand Goku's kid voice in the funi dub. Every time i hear it i get the feeling you get when someone pulls his nails over the chalkboard

There is blood, just not nearly as much it was in DBZ, and no holes cuz holes are bad, holes are evil..

Oo theres just as much blood and whatnot in kai as there was in the original, they didnt change much from the original animation at all in the subs. Those pics you posted mkil are from the Dub Airing on nickelodeon (is currently at android saga). Which they censored the **** out of. But the original japanese version isnt cut like that at all, they swear/bleed all the time. =/

No, even the Japanese version is. I dunno what you're on about, your fansubbers must have lied to you. :p

Also, there is not nearly as much blood or gore, I watched the first episode in Japanese, tis the same. The official statement from the company themsleves said it had to do with Japans stricter regulations.

I was hoping Kai would be a complete redraw too, like the intro...everyone did, even knowing the insane amount of work that would be, we still expected it. DBZ original > DBZ Kai.

I might be on my own here, but I don't think blood and gore make or break the series. I haven't seen much of Kai, but I have read the DBZ manga and from what I understand, Kai just flows from that, and for anyone who hasn't read DBZ manga, I highly recommend it. The pacing is so much better. Goku vs. Frieza is over in less than one volume (two chapters off memory!) compared to the original anime which was a whopping 30 episodes!

I love DBZ as much as the next guy, but in c'mon, there is so much padding inside every episode that it's really frustrating to watch.
