Just thought I'd let everyone know that DOOM 3 went gold as of 11:54 AM CST today. The expected release date is August 3-5, so start saving/upgrading your computer!

omg00se... perhaps i should start saving for an x800 to replace my 9800 pro

(athlon64 3000+ and gig of ram should hold up quite well)

Oh yeah, 9800 won't do it. ;) I'm going to be getting a 3200+ (XP, not 64) and an extra 512 to get me up to a gig. I've got a GeForceFX5600XT as a card, so I'm not worried too much.

You mean alpha right? There wasn't any released/leaked beta for DOOM 3.

I dont know why everyone thinks you will need these big bad mechines to run doom 3... When doom 3 first was annonced they were running it perfectly on a god damn geforce 3. At mac world a few years ago they ran it on a mac with a geforce 3. We are up to geforce 6 now.. if you have a geforce 5 series or the ati 9800 series you will be able to run doom three with no problem.

Quiet Hsu! Don't let them know that. Although they were running just fine, you have to understand they weren't just hopping on to Billy's computer and booting the game up. It was a clean system with nothing but the OS and the game on there. Regardless, I still wouldn't recommend running on anything less than GF4.

I'm more anticipating HL2, but I will most likely get this game if I can get a new PC that doesn't crash.

But one of the reasons they did run on geforce 3 was because that was the best technology of the time, but yea, it will work just fine on gf3.

John Carmack has been quoted saying that if you have a geforce 3, you'll be able to play on 800 by 600 with most of the detail settings on =).

Your 9500Pro will do just fine. Do NOT base what you believe the performance will be by the alpha.

Ah, outstanding! I've been waiting to augment my Doom collection for over a decade (literally!). This will be a welcome addition to my collection. Perhaps I shall have to revert to the arrow-key method of navigation for this one...I'd hate to betray my whole experience with Doom by using WSAD...just a nostalgic thing, I guess ^_^

I can't stand wsad for anything. After using arrows all my gaming life, I have to stick with it ;o.

Yeah I already played Doom 3 on my old computer, which was crap.(dont ask me how I played it, or anythign related to that) The game is very good even though it was just out of Alpha. You dont need a bad ass computer at all, just meet the mininum system req. and you will run the game perfectly fine.

As for it being gold, I will belive the game is out once the cd case is in my hands.

I'll be sure to 'buy' this game at 300k/s. I love Carmack and all his games but I have no money's, and HL-2 comes first. I'm sure I'll end up forking out 50 bucks for it anyway, just because it's Doom 3.

I have too much respect for Valve to download their game without buying it. If anything i'll download it to get a test run on if it's complete crap or not. And if it's good i'm gonna buy it.
