I, and alot of other people, have played the Doom 3 Alpha 'demo'. Alot of people say that it was a horrible thing, which it was a bad thing for ATi to do, but... after playing it I know I'm going to buy the game.
I knew it was illegal, what I was playing, but it gave me insight to what I was going to be playing soon. I think the release boosted my confidence in Carmack and id. When I first played the game I was amazed at what a version .002 could do! Seeing all the high-tech gaming and how scary the sounds were...
So, in all I think that this 'illegal' release would eventually be a plus for id. I bet alot more people will purchase the completed game after playing the alpha and realizing how good the alpha already was at such a young age.
What are yalls thoughts about this release? Do you think it was a plus for id software or a negative? Please give a good reason for whichever choice you submit.
