Back in March 25 2012 , Mastasurf made a post asking the community if they'd rather have the mod release in 2 phases (wich would imply an early release) or just wait for the full release.
I was one of the few who just wanted an early release, knowing that this way, the team would have better incentives for working on it long term.
Most people chose the full release-once-it's-done.

Welp. It's been almost 13 years since that post. Hell, it's been 20 years since i discovered this in a cyber-cafe in my neighborhood in Argentina.

I know most of what's happened. Everything gathered from reading this forum and youtube videos. I know about the Sven Co-op swap, and how that must take a lot of time (that developers make in they're spare time, wich we all asume, must not be much). Sad reality is, most people have already moved on from this mod, wich is very sad actually. It very much needs a revival.

I know i know. This has been talked about a lot. But it's been more than a decade. Yet, the main site still has the ESF 1.2.3. Toriyama Tournament update and that's it. Since that post, two whole Dragon Ball shows have released, four movies, a myriad of official games, the Super manga, and Toriyama's passing. I played this while eating cookies. Now i'm thinking of buying a house. WTF.

Ask for donations. Get more people, let the community work on it. Just wrap it up guys. There's always room for ESF 1.4

With much love, gratitude, respect, little hope and a lot of patience,
Some dude.

Get more people
Gladly. Doors are open. If someone wants to help, has the skill and time we'd welcome them in a heartbeat. Of course a certain chemistry is required for this to work and trust.

Nothing sad about it, this mod is a time capsule and will revive itself once it's baked and ready for release.

I don't think anybody has made any mistake here.
Even if we have to wait another 20-30 or even 50 years there's no reason to be impatient or to be unsure about how this project was handled.
Everything it's fine.

Who is going to play this game after 50 years bro? We will all be dead by then....be serious. When a game takes to long because a big company like Rockstars work behind a game, you know that they take that time to make the game better and they have all the resources, but this game take alot because the people that work on it don;t really have time to make the game and also they are just a handfull of people doing it...there is no one interested in a game that will be to old and will look to old to even play after 10+ years from now....tell me, is there anyone here that still plays esf 1.3 on a daily basis? No, because you have alot of other games that look 100 times better and have a lot of content. Look, I understand that most are just melancholic about this game but hey....it's too long already and what goes will never come back again as much as we want it. Even this forum is dead...people move on and those that are young don't even know about this game and this project. When it's going to release, finally, after 10+ years from now, it will die in the next few months like most of the game do now if they are not well done or the game has no attractivness to what people search in that time. We used to like single player games until games like pubg came along, fortnite and so on, people play more multiplayer games now than ever and you have so much options that you can't even play all....so...what's the point on working on something that you do not have time for and that takes to much to even count?

It's a thing called a hobby. People work on them because they like it and it is fun. Mods are not commercial games made by companies with the goal of financial gain.

Your hobby is not a hobby if it creates expectation to other people, because you presented your "hobby" as a project for all to enjoy. If it's a hobby you don;t make it public on the internet, you work for pleasure at it, that is the definition of a hobby. My hobby is to play Tennis, but I do not present myself as a trainer and start to promise people that I will become a trainer on the internet and make them wait 20 years for it. See the diff?

And if you present you hobby as a project for others, than at least make sure that you are capable of presenting the project in a time frame that will still hold some people interested in it. It's been 20+ years, for this "hobby" and people moved on to a better engine more secure, better games, better all, not a old engine full of bugs and that has no support anymore.

Lol seriously? Tell that to 90% of the internet. XD You know that you're not an authority on what people can and can't do right? If you really think you don't make hobbies public then you really don't go on the internet much, hell even your silly comparison to tennis doesn't make sense as there are videos of people learning and playing tennis as a hobby online. And the definition of hobby is something you do for pleasure or enjoyment, nothing to do with keeping it private or not posting it on the internet, so if you're going to claim definitions of things, make sure you aren't proving yourself wrong.

And if you present you hobby as a project for others, than at least make sure that you are capable of presenting the project in a time frame that will still hold some people interested in it
Again, you don't get to decide what other people are allowed to do. It's a project that we're working on, other people can watch our progress or not, it makes no real difference to us if people are interested in it or if they go on to something else. Hell, people are welcome to join the project if they are capable of helping it along, how would that happen if we kept it secret from the internet to conform with your made up rules?

Yeah, yeah, keep finding excuses for something that is a hobby but not a hobby, but we have time but we don't and so on for like the past 20+ years....see you in another 20+ years and we will see how this "hobby" is going, also, people do alot of dumb things on the internet and they post all the stupid things in the world. That doesn't make it good or beneficial for others. HF and good like, you are going to need it :)))

I guess it isn't worth waiting. Nothing is resolved by talking/waiting while sitting on the couch.
I'd like to help and learn from it step by step, but that depends on what the staff decides.

This community is a "dictatorship," meaning it's driven by staff preferences. If staff makes a decision, it's final. They decide what they prefer.
I thought that they said "this isn't a democracy" in that sense was a joke, but not, they said it seriously in their rules.

Keep trying to redefine what hobby means to fit your own BS. :p Oh so now it's a problem if people post their hobbies online that aren't beneficial to others? So if someone makes a website about something like painting their Warhammer models, according to you that's no longer a hobby because they've posted it online and it's bad because it isn't beneficial to others. Dear lord get over yourself. XD You have some very strange ideas, though going by your previous post saying how "we" liked single player games until pubg came along you must be 12. PUBG didn't invent multiplayer, nor has it killed singleplayer, they've both existed and been popular both before and after PUBG, all it did was popularize the Battle Royal format.

We're going to need good like? That's not even a thing. I guess you mean luck but we don't even need that, just time, because it's a hobby.

If you want to help, then reach out to us on the discord and let us know what you can help us with, if it's something we need then we'll go from there. Simple as that.

No, the community isn't a dictatorship, if it was then we'd simply boot people who whine (like ganja) rather than reply to them.
The whole "this isn't a democracy" is in reference to moderation actions, if someone breaks the rules then the staff decides what to do with them, not the community.
For example, if someone was just being outright racist, we'd ban them, doesn't matter if other users really liked them and wanted them unbanned.

Lol kissing ass? Pointing out how you don't know what "hobby" means isn't kissing anyone's ass, it's just pointing out that you have no idea what you're talking about and have to lie to make a point.

You're the one so salty that you're making stuff up, but apparently I'm the one crying, ok genius. XD 40 years? Are you mental? None of us expect anyone to be playing it in 40 years, no game dev makes a game expecting people to play it 40 years later, especially multiplayer-only games. XD What an absurd thing to say. Hell, we're surprised there are communities still playing 1.2.3.

Actually he's also a Developer we forgot to update the Forum because lets be honest... Why are you even on here? Our main Source of Communication is the Discord and everyone that actually follows the Platform and doesn't just complain knows this. We are working on it as dedicated as possible you can even see our Progress on there if you do the right Steps thats my two Cents on the topic.

Dude, It's not that serious. If you're saying no one is going to play it when it launches, then why are you sticking around?
Let alone, this makes for a good portfolio item. Go play Sparking Zero or something.

Let's be honest, the community is very small now compared back to then. A lot of dragonball games are also released in the meantime. Nobody is really waiting for ESF anymore. It sounds harsh, I enjoyed it back then very much, thank you guys for the good times and my youth playing this game while having a great community. But I guess it's not worth to put any effort in a game that has no community left anymore. We are all grown now, married and having kids, so are the developers ofcourse and I truely understand them that putting time beside their own work costs too much. We all are working and time flies indeed. I myself wasn't waiting anymore tbh. Even though if the game was released now, I wouldn't even have time to play anyways. Therefore, stop blaiming the devs already, we had our best times with 1.2.3, golden times. We never paid them for the game they already released for us, we couldn't. The time they already put in to this is priceless.

I wish everyone really the best, enjoy the small things in life especially these times because we are getting old, the world we live in is also getting weird, so stay safe.

I will see you guys again. maybe here, maybe there.
