Dead Threads

I really do not care how he earned it. He still should answer questions, and thank you Saiyan you answered it for us

Whats the diff between creating a thread and revising a dead one? I mean if its the same topic and ever time you post no matter if its in a dead or alive topic it still costs the same.

bring back a dead one means you have posts in it already, thus everytime someone views it there's more call to the db for the old posts, whereas making a new one has very little in comparison. Also, you're posting about something that has already been done, thus just taking more space up in the db that, if you want to be really administerative, shouldn't really be there. It's like buying two books to read, and they are basicly the same (liie getting two bibles). A waste of time to read the second one, in all honesty

In the freakish off-chance that I happen to find a really old thread that has a lot of good points in it and I'd like to reintroduce people to it, through it, could I PM a Super Moderator and get an OK? I don't think I'll ever do it but I might as well ask now.

If there is a thread about something you want to post something about you just have to make a new topic? wouldnt that be like spam? i dunno just a thought im not a moderator so i shouldnt talk about spam. is this considered a dead thread?

Some things I would like to add:

Generally speaking, 90% of revived threads are brought back for spam . . . no one will complain if you post on topic, so long as the topic is still valid. Adding your two cents to a argument Brun0 and I had over GeForce2 cards for instance, is probably not a good idea. Commenting on 2.0's gameplay mechanics will ensure both a warning and a closure.

However, adding a refreshing new POV to an old argument about something that is still relevant is alright. Ask a moderator first, if you arent sure. (Preferably a moderator in that section.)

Slayer, we auto trim in a few forums every 30 days, some rarely, if ever. Administrators can mass prune threads.

Additionally FM, every post cost money every time it is veiwed and every time it is accessed. Bandwidth is not cheap.
