You might want to define a "dead" thread for us. I know what it is, some may not.

If there is weeks or more of no posting and then someone posts. That's brining back a dead thread. I just closed one that hadnt been posted in for a month.

It is getting a little out of hand

I could help if I was a mod(DON'T HURT ME I KID ALOT). Seriously, sometimes people don't know if it is dead or not, someone could go away for a week or just not visit and come back and old threads may have the new post symbol on it.

The posts all have the correct day, even if the forum clock is off. You have to root around to find the dead threads anyway.

Hibiki most people(exspecially n00bs)don't realize a thread is dead until one of you close it. Why not delete dead threads(too clear up forum space)so if some one makes a thread from a deleted one you won't have a reason to close it and people can discuss in it again. Then when no one post's in it you can delete it.

Also, this has been buggin me for a while but why don't you get rid of the no advertising rule? Cause basically, as long as it is mentioned in thread no matter what it is(new Linkin park cd, another HL mod, or a site for a game)it's all considered as advertising. Even if no link is provided it's still an advertisement cause all some one needs to do is search for it on google.

My 2 cents.

They aren't deleted so that people can make use of the search tool and find out if something has been said before. Unfortunately people don't use the search button.

GFK, it would have to be a pretty potent post to make...for example, I don't think anything particularly potent could have been said in a thread about wanting Alpha 3.0 for Christmas 2001....that's a good example of bringing up a dead topic, but it does apply to other, more relevant things, too. Best just to leave it.

well, it's a lot of work deleting those old threads
and be greatful that someone pays for your posting on this site :\

can't you guys trim the posts? I know phpbb allows triming if a topic so many days old (like 45 days?)

thus, triming posts reduce the amount of paying. Any other comments on something you don't know?

Hib, why isn't there any triming?
