I have VirtualDub 1.4.10 and I wanted to gather sounds from a DBZ Movie, but the problem is it's in avi format. VirtualDub doesn't allow me to open avi formatted files. Is there some sort of patch for a version that does allow me to open avi files, or perhaps another program I can use?
I dont know what VirtualDub is but that wont metter
you can edit with windows movie maker sound files outta avis
if you dont have it then listen up - this is a very usefull tut that every user
can handle if he has windows! it only uses the basic that comes with windows!

Instructions:
|Start => Settings| <big>\</big> |My Computer| => Control Panel => Sounds and Audio Devices
43%
now:
Voice tag => Voice Recording => Volume botton
OR
Volume tag => Device volume => Advanced botton => Options => Properties => Recording
its very important that you'll tag everything with a nice "V", all possible options!
press OK
you should have something called "Stereo Mix" or something similar
make sure its the only one tagged in this new window you got to
called "Record Control"
and make it max volume
unplug your microphone of your pc if your using one
make sure no other noise is in the bg (aka icq beeps, msn, etc...)
goto: START=>PROGRAMS=>Accessories=>Entertainment
AND NOW THE FINISH:
Sound Recorder!!!
now start playing your DBZ episode and when you feel like start copying from the show sound
then press the red record botton
and save it as a wave, when you save it as a wav file goto CHANGE in the save window
Attributes: Make sure its in MONO and another very important thing
the kHz can be any except one, the frequency that got esf 1.1 client crashed
the one with the disks though its only on looping but just to make sure.
other recommended sound editing programs
(after ripped from the show, not for ripping it out of the avi file!):
- Cool Edit Pro 2.0
- Windows Movie Maker
- Nero Wave Editor
hope it helps
if it doesnt, I dunno what will
lol
