im gonna try that thing 5 for 1 week 6 for next etc thx.
i know what u mean whitecrab i can life weights quite good but press ups is my negative.i can do sit ups for an unbelieveable amount of time.

but have u tried crunches whitecrab i cant really do these much cus i seem to get a cramp ffeling in my stomach.

whitecrab try crunches instead theyre much better than sit ups if u wanna get a good pac.

just in case u dont know a crunch is like a situp put your hands by your ears just touching them not grabbing them though and move just your stomach up then slowly down.it seems like your hardly moving when doing crunches but believe me after around 20 you get this fliippin rar stomach ache.

btw for any of u who r gonna try crunches dont over do them believe the stomach strain is the worst strain u can get believe me.

yeah and they dont even buld up u up much.. (well they do help a little bit but there are better exercises to do that put less of a strain on ur body.... cause there is no point in trying to buff up only to find out u pulled a ligament or something)

Most fights only last a couple of seconds. If they last more than three hits on either side, both sides are doing something wrong. The only real street fight I got into was a drunk guy who cut me off while I was driving, then followed me to make trouble. Anywhoo, I got to work. He got out of his car and pushed me. I gave him a nice spinning jumping hook kick as a present and let him sleep it off in the parking lot :) (and yeah, I outweighed the guy. @250 to @180)

Seriously though, Mirai USSJ, simple stretching exercises held for 10 seconds would do you good. Two man stretches work best, but make sure that you do some kind of aerobic exercise for 10-15 minutes first to stretch your legs. Don't neglect the top half of your body, though. Go and buy an illustrated martial arts book to learn the exercises inside, If I ever get my hands on a scanner, I'll post some pics of good stretches.

The next thing is exactly what Hibiki told you, repetitive motions.

Do 10 to 15 kicks of each kick you want each day, you'll get better and faster. Practice in a pool (waist high) whenever possible, as it adds resistance and prevents you from getting hurt. I learned a good half of my spinning jumping kicks this way.

It's also a good idea to buy a heavy, WATER CORE punching bag. Right around 100 lbs. is good. Great for aiming your kicks and simulates striking a body fairly well.

One last tip: Keep kicking higher. The point is not to throw a near-verticle roundhouse kick at someone, that would end up getting you hurt. The point is that the higher you kick the more control you have at lower heights. Typically the middle of the arc of your kick is the peak of accuracy and power.

That's not true believe me when u get this so called boost u really dont feel pain. I dont know if u know Lloret the Mar? Well anyways its a palce where lots of ppl in Europe go to to hold their vacation (ages between 16-30) and hads got great disco's I was there with my friend and we were on our way back home. Some skinny older guy was irritating me by saying something in german and I asked him if he wanted to stop that. Unfortunatly I didn't noticed his big friend. That was coming from behind the corner. Well really, I'm not a total geek or loser or something and I can say that I'm pretty strong for my age. Doing heavy weight training . But this guy was 26 and I just stunned The problem was that I didn't know what to do, I knew the guy was way stronger then me but I couldn't run away. First he gave me a headbang (how do u call this in englisch???) and then a punch in my stomach I really was FULL of adrealine, it suprised me , I didn't feel pain. Not at all. My body gave a reaction like a reflex. But I didn't even felt pain myself. after that bout 2 more punches in my stomach again no pain. After that when they finally where bored or somethin :p I calmed down and then I fainted.

My point is Uu said that fight only should take a few seconds. Or else ur doing something wrong. I think a fight can last VERY long as long as some specific places arent hit. just my point + story :talk:

cool ;) i had some prob once with gymnastics. there were ropes hanging from the ceiling about 8, and 4 of them were hold at the left side, and vice versa. once they all let go at same time, you had to run through them (hope you guys can catch this ;)) and the last rope i tripped, it got around mah foot. so i fell against the wall that was behind it. i just bumped into it with my full running speed. peeps were like. are you ok? but actually i never felt the pain =/ i too was suprised.

BTW nice topic is this ;) and mirai, i'm not flexibel either =/ i can hit the head of someone though, but i cant hold my foot high at their head, only when i do a fast kick.

you know what i do every once in a while?? i should do it more often though, lack of time and dedication i guess ;) let your leg rest on something that is higher than your waist. and try to let it rest on higher levels as you progres. this way you will be more flexible. :)

What do you mean by that? I sometimes sit upside on a couch, with my feet on the "head rest" thing. Does that count? I had no idea that would be considered helpful.

Hey Mirai, try this it may help.

Think of your hip as a box. The box has to move a specific way to allow for a larger arc of kick. In particular the roundhouse, side, back, hook, and crescent kicks are hip position sensitive. In roundhouse and side kick the kicking side of the hip has to rotate to the front of your body. The back foot's toes swing away from the body. The knee is brought up first at a 45 degree angle. This is called chambering and is absoulutely crucial to proper kicking. The round house simply swings out from the chambered position at this point and hits the side of the body, head or legs with the instep of the foot. The side kick travels further across the body untill it's coiled in front and then straightens rapidly as the toes point down and towards the body. Try these two first and tell me how you do.

As for the books, anything that is World Tae Kwon Do Federation endorsed, International Tae Kwon Do Federation, or United States Tae Kwon Do Federation endorced is good. Make sure the book has the following three elements.

  • Poomsae or forms, Tae Geuke or Pal Guay are acceptable
  • A detailed description of the techniques used in the forms (kicks and punches)
  • and a full list of exercises

Keep in mind, that a book is no match for hands on instruction. Don't attempt any flying or spining strikes if you are not 100% confident, and not comfortable.

SOmetimes mastering speed is crucial, when i fight someone (if i did) id want to hurt him and escape. Practice quick jabs hooks, and my favorite, uppercuts. Id only use uppercuts to hurt someone, as they are very powerful. Jab someone, they hold their face and generally just groan. If you really want to kick someones ass, just give em a shot in the nuts (and if your dishonorable) they go down EVERY time. remember, sometimes the strongest man doesnt win, sometimes the smarter guy does.

I would stretch if i were you, and try to do some simple kicks. Try the tripping one (evasive action) and one to the midriff (make them bend over so you can pound the **** outa their back) If you are serious about martial arts get a good school and train hard. Trust me, football for me was unbelievalbly hard, but when i wanted to quit, i kept goin, and im proud of that.

Chimpbots right about the adrenaline thing, its a natural response that cant be controlled. However, its effects on the brain can be (emotional responses). get in your basement and just get plain ****ed, youll experience an adrenaline rush. Start to work out, but not to hard, take it easy. you dont wanna pull a hamstring. The idea behind adrenaline is to fight something threatening homeostasis - body balance - (known as stressors) or to escape it. The mind then makes desicions based on past experiences. A football player (myself) might react violently to a threat (i do) and someone that runs track might run from it (some ppl do). This is because football players get pumped to play, while track gets pumped to run (basically get excited, releasing adrenaline in the body). This gives the body an amazing boost in speed and strength, but Temper must be controlled or you might pull someting (linemen do it all the time, usually jam a wrist when on an adrenaline run or make a mistake). Normally the boost is small, and lasts for only a few minutes. However, if the adrenaline is not used, the person may remain shaky for up to 1/2 hour. If you get scared by something you will get an adrenaline rush. If you get excited you get one. If you become aggressive you get a LARGE one (not super-human). The largest of all is a woman when her child is in danger, there are stories of women lifting busses off of their kids to save them. some people dont get excited about stuff and experience minimum adrenaline. What u call "rage" is a mentallity disorder. That is being extremely aggressive towards any person and any object. People use it to get adrenaline, though its very unhealthy to do so. This can lead to violent behaivior and physical complications.

Adrenaline is simply a natural response, no more unhealthy than being happy or sad.
