Well, to be fair, the people that wanted it so much for the most part have no idea how to model / animate / make sounds / whatever. Sure, they could learn, but by the time they get good enough for there work to be considered "1.3 quality" 1.3 would be out.
not really there were tons of people interested in the thing that could of done it that were just too lazy to do it

it was all laid out clearly and quite simply no one put the effort into doing it
did you even look at the thread before you typed that?

several models were made, (it does take effort to make models)
several skins were started/finished (takes effort to skin as well)

none of them were finished but to say effort was not put into it is rubbish,

not really there were tons of people interested in the thing that could of done it that were just too lazy to do it
couldve done it IF THEY WANTED TO, thecontest was for people who wanted to enter it, now your even bashing people that didnt enter, >_> nice

wouldnt say that

many people here are capable of making a tien, and quite a few people did, me, eclipse, (and 2 other people) made one during the contest time period, however im assuming them, (like me) lost interest in finishing the project when the thread died,
He said able to finish. So I would say that :p

Anyways, I kinda expected this to happen. At least it serves as a great argument for the next whine about letting the community help, or hire a lot of the oh so talented people from the community, or giving the mod to the community when we're ending it.

The thread died, so nobody finished it? Thats a pretty poor excuse. If thats what I can expect from a community modeler I dont know how any models are ever finished.

Well if people were still continuing to work on it, why wouldnt they post updates on it? Im not saying nobody finished it, but the lack of updates after such a long time would make people think that.

Then again If I made one, I wouldnt show it and make people think the project is dead, then one day post it. :]

I actually somewhat blame the person that started the contest / moderated it, the leader of it.

There should have been stricter rules, such as only people making a tien would be allowed to post, and if they wanted crits then they could have made their own thread.

There also should have been individual contests for the model / skin, sounds, sprites, and whatever else there was.

i didnt have any updates to post on the model, model wise it was completed when the thread was thriving, however the only person that volunteered to animate it, couldnt do it

Usually it wasn't because the modeler didn't finish his end of the job it's that the skinner jumped ship when they commited to the work This happed with my Tien and I have sent it to OVER 3 people to skin at different times (one is you if im not mistaken) and they failed to skin it. Therefore no aniamtions could be applied to it from DT and it could not be put ingame.

true, the contest would require everyone working together. if one part doesn't pull through, everything else won't pull through. i liked clipse and kreshi's tien the most.. man sucks =( yeah and i remember DT saying he would have animated it as well.

no the whole entire point behind the tien thing was for the community to come up with everything on its own

not to be hand held all the way through the step

There also should have been individual contests for the model / skin, sounds, sprites, and whatever else there was.
1.) If only people MAKING a tien could post the thread would have died about 24 hours after it started.

2.) They had the freedom to make their own thread if they chose to do so, but if I forced them to abandon the primary Tien thread for criticism the thread would have died about 12 hours after it started.

3.) There was a sound pack contest that ran alongside the modeling contest and you couldn't have a SKINNING contest without first selecting a finished MODEL, so it just made more sense for modellers to find their own damn skinners, which many didn't do, and those who did found lazy or busy skinners.

So before you start blaming ME for (God forbid) trying to bring the community together in one thread to do something that they wanted to do, take a look at what happened in that thread (which I bumped twice after the community bogged out). I would love to see someone actually finish a Tien. I love Tien. I can't model, I can't skin, all I can do is encourage the community by offering them little prizes like Groovy is attempting with the forum contests.

Guys if you really want to feel free to go ahead and finish your Tiens. I somehow doubt anyone will, but if you did there's still a fairly good chance it would get into 1.3 . If you would like to finish yours, please don't procrastinate much longer.

Edit- Incase anyone has noticed I haven't been around much at all lately it's because I'm in the process of moving into a new home and finding a job and all that comes associated with that.

As far as Tien goes, I wouldn't mind doing a collaboration skin with someone. I'm too busy and lazy atm to skinmap and skin an entire model. But if someone wanted to do a Tien skin with me I'd be more than happy to do it.

But it's really up to the community to come through and actually get a good force of motivation behind it. But to me it just kinda feels like it was the flavour of the week that never caught on.

That thing that gets me about this whole argument/situation is why is the ESF team not making tien for 1.3? Considering not only is he one of the main characters in DBZ but he is interesting and has some unique/different attacks.

Yes you did send it to me, but you sent it to me when I already had heaps of ESF team work to do! =P. I was a team member at the time, official ESF models are more important than a community Tien. You modeled Tien before you where on the ESF team, so dont give me that. I do my skinning work thankyou very much! ._.

However, One was finished fully. But people said it was too "Real" to be used in esf, so I didn't care about it anymore. Also I never came around to finish clipses one.

Reason 1: I was lazy

Reason 2: No one felt like doing the animation

Reason 3: I was lazy again.

However Idane's Tien is looking awesome, let's just wait and see what joy he brings us.

PS: Godsquad shall bring you a tien ;>.

Did anyone make a soundpack? If not then i'll do it, some of the sounds would have to be from Dragonball but if that's ok then i'd be fine to make a soundpack.
