i like dogs, cuz they're mans best friend.... i can enjoy playing with dogs, cats just want feeding and fuss, where as a dog wants them, but they also want to be there always, they're the ultimate companion.....ive never met a cat that would die to protect its owner :p

Cats. Cats are by nature, more intelligent than dogs. Plus, they're more autonomous--you don't have to take them for walks, and you can leave them at home for a few days while you leave, instead of putting them in a Kennell. The purring of cats is also shown to reduce your blood pressure.

Contrary to what most people seem to think, cats are not less friendly than dogs. It depends on how they're raised. If you stay with a cat, especially during the young weeks and months of it's life, and don't leave it alone for any good amount of time, then the cat will be quite dependant on human interaction and affection.

I personally don't care for dogs, at all. They have to be walked constantly, they drool, they smell terrible, you have to bathe them, you have to trim their hair(depending on breed), they bark constantly, they chew things up..

Cats do occasionally shred things up, but not usually if you just buy them a scratching post. You can even teach a cat to use a toilet, and not have to deal with a litterbox.

Plus, cats are softer and cuter than dogs.

awwwww, no way >_<, my dog hardly ever chews up stuff cuz we buy it stuff to chew or give it lamb bones or watever, i'll give u that the dogs need walks, but its nice takin a dog on a walk, i myself enjoy walking through a park on a nice day, its even better if u get to play with your dog too. Dogs dont smell that bad if u bath them regulary (not too much cuz its bad for them), my dog dont bark if u tell him not too, a lot of the things u say are dependant on how the dog is brought up. I had cats around me all the time i was growin up (till i was 13), i liked em but they didnt.... do anything, they wanted fuss wen it suited them, and i didnt really see them that much. I got a dog last year, and ive had more fun with him than wen i eva had a cat, he's well trained and very protective, he doesnt drewl to my knowlage either.... and u say how cats purring reduce blood pressure, well apparently stroking a pet is ment to relieve stress, but i wouldnt know i hardly ever get stressed. I dunno. i like the attention my dog needs he's the best burglar alarm in the world too, he's also protective when he's taken out on a walk, but he socialises well with other dogs. And dogs do look cute, cats look like the spawn of satan....

I agree 100% most of what alea said is based on how the dog was raised. I had a told for the first 13 years of my life ( i was born and so was he) Not once did he ever do anything to harm me. He was EXTREMELY proctive of me, if anyone he had not seen me with came walking to me, he would stand in front of me and just have a dead stare at this new person.

My dad owns a construction company so he lived there, he never really smelled ever. I was very good to play with when you were having a bad day, and the 1 walk again cat hurt, i love the outside so it was not toublsom, and a walk cant kill you :) Sadly he died at 13 and i have yet to get another pet, you really cant replace the best friend you had for 13 years

And incase you were wondering I had a German Sheaperd.

(sory for the bad spelling and grammer)

I love 'em both, I wub kitties, and I wub puppies. Cats are easier to get along with, but as for them being smarter than dogs, then you just haven't had a Border Collie.

Dogs. Cats don't do much, really. All they really know how to do is lick their *******s all day. And why is intelligence involved? They are still just animals.

Are you implying that cats can piss better than dogs?

lol.
I like dogs more than Cats, personally. If you have a big dog, it can protect you, whereas cats are useless when it comes to protection. You don't see many "Beware of Cat" signs on front doors and fences do you? My dog is the ****, he knows tons of tricks, he can jump high as hell, and when I get in a giant cardboard box and start hopping he goes crazy and starts running around the room. I agree with David, I enjoy going out to walk my dog on a nice day, or even at night, it's one of the joys of havinga dog, not a negative. If you don't plan on wanting to bath, feed, walk, play with, or groom a dog, you may want to reconsider getting one. I know a lot of people that don't do some of those things, and the dog ends up looking terrible, and sad, pisses me off that they own it. Anyways here's mah dawg.

gomm... doggahs because they dont pewp in obscure places like plantpots and you only discover them when you walk by them and pass out from the stench, plus you can have more fun, i's got 3 racing whippits that i run every weekend, got quite a collection of rosettes for champion racers and show dogs now, you can feel proud with a show dog, standing on stage and stuff, cant really do that with a kittah, cant race a cat, they dont run 30mph and it'd just lick is bum :O

Funny you said that about raising cats.

If you raise a dog correctly, it won't bark all the time, or chew up things, you can't do much about the drooling, since dogs open their mouths to cool off, while cats just sleep in the shades to cool down. If your dog smells terrible then it YOUR OWN FAULT that the dog smells terrible, just wash them once in a while... seriously if you hate the trimming and bathing of a dog, and even the smell, then I feel sorry for your future children, babies smell, people need hair cuts, and they need to bathe aswell... and correct me if I am wrong, but don't you hate that?

Ofcourse you are gonna bull**** about how humans are different from dogs, so what? I find that raising dogs is not different from raising a child, if you hate to raise a dog... then you must also hate to raise a child, like I said before correct me if I am wrong.

It might be true, that a cat those most of the those things on their own later on if they are old enough, but I find cats just boring, you can't throw a frisbee at a cat and expect it give it back to you, all they do it, sleep around the house and get petted, but however, if you train them they might be a nice guard against mice...

I find that both cats and dogs have his flaws, dogs are your comrades, while cats are more usefull for the extermination of rats/mice...

I really can't make a choice between which one I like better I like both as much as the other...

i totally agree with dpredator, my dogs dont smell, they hardly shed hair, they dont drool everywhere, there trained to excrete in a certan patch of grass, chewing is easly solved with toys, its called teething at young ages, just like toddlers, and my dogs have actually helped with barking, they NEVER bark at all, but when someone comes over the gate or over the back walls, they bark, ive had 3 people try to break in and the dogs have either scared em off or warned me to don my baseball bat and chase them out, if i didnt have dogs, theres a good chance he would of broke in a stole some expensive goods..a cat dosnt warn you when your is potentional trouble.. also, dogs are more helpful that cats, we have dogs for blind people that help them navigate, cats dont, :O

I prefer cats.

But I wont say why, as most has already been said. As for the argument about which is more usefeul, its a godamn pet, not a tool for saying "ooh dogs can walk the blind". Yeah? so damn what, not very good as a pet to me huh.
