Hey guys. I tried to install the catalyst 3.9s...usually I avoid the catalyst drivers cause they suck anyway, but I've been having some performance issues so I thought that I should give the new ones a shot.

Well anyway...it gives me an error. After it extracts the files, to all the default folders, like I've done a million times before...it gives me an error when trying to start setup.exe.

Has anyone else had this kind of problem, or what? Is there a workaround or did these *******s just put up a busted file? And also--could it be related to StyleXP? I tried it with it off and the same thing happened, but still....

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I strongly recommend NOT using 3.9!

I've been reading things about it saying that it heats up the video cards, at most, 10C!

It also has some problems with moniters, making them try to switch to resolutions and refresh rates they cannot handle, in short, causing a very short life.

This is with only the 9700 Pro, 9800 and Pro. It might be with 9500 non-pro and pros, but I don't know.

Please dont use the 3.9 Driver, as UPC is suggesting. I have a 9800 pro, There's not a increase in performance, it actually slowed down and skipped when I played Savage, and Wolfenstein ET. To Roll Back drivers, Right click on "my computer" icon. From there, go Properties>Hardware>Device manager to get a list of your currently installed devices. Go to your Video card and right click on, choose properties and go to the driver tab and you should see a button that says roll back driver, and then click it and you should be fine.

Once again, I wouldnt recommend downloading them, 3.8 will do till 4.0.

Well I don't even know how 3.8 works. I have to try it, I guess.

I use a generic 9700 Pro driver I found somewhere currently.
