Ok I listen to a whole bunch of music and I'm always hearing crappy covers...to have a cover work you have to change it signifacently otherwise your entirely ripping off the guy that did all the work....so tell us what your favorite covers are...

#1 All Along the Watchtower: Jimi Hendrix (Originally Bob Dylan I believe)
#2 Voodoo Chile: Stevie Ray Vaughn (Originally Jimi Hendrix)
#3 All Along the Watchtower: Dave Mathews Band (Originally Bob Dylan....then Jimi Hendrix)

A cover can never truly compete with the original, that's just how it will always be.

Yay for me and randomness. Reel Big Fish covering A-Ha's "Take on me" Even if ya don't like Skaa, the concept of a Skaa band covering a really, really 80s pop song is hilarious.

I'm not sure if this counts, but Metallica + The London Symphony Orchestra's version of Master Of Puppets was much better than the original (just Metallica) from the S&M album.

Oh you so did not just say that :p Of course I'm a huge pink floyd fan, so thats probably why I say it's kinda meh. It's really not all that bad, but I think they messed some of it up. The singing style also doesn't jive with me much. Especially the kids in the background. So weird hearing them without british accents.

While this is true in most cases, there are a few where I don't think so.

Take Paranoid by Black Sabbath. It was always kind of a bleh song for me. But then I heard the Megadeth cover of it and loved it.

I always like it when punk/ska bands cover songs like Somewhere Over The Rainbow or 99 Red Balloons and stuff.

Megadeth does a good version of No More Mr. Nice Guy, too...and "These Boots" by Nancy Sinatra, but that's more of a gag.

The best cover I ever heard, period, was Helloween's cover of Judas Priest's "Electric Eye."

Mansons covers can be fun to listen to. I remember how disturbing his music video for Sweet Dreams was. However, in the case of Personal Jesus, I say he made a crappy song sound even crappier :(.
