Beams on the Skybox

Instead of beams exploding on the skybox, could they just disappear instead for added realism? Or, maybe they could shrink (to look like they are flying away)?

So then what happens to the player model? He just suddenly stops and the beam disappears?

I think Renyori means that if a player fires a beam which gets to the top of a map, they would need to lose their connection to the beam.

I think it would work if beams hitting the skybox were treated as swatted beams (basically the beamhead with its trail). Another problem would be if another player were to touch the beam whilst it was shrinking. They'd have to become harmless once they hit the skybox in order for it to work.
