A gunman intended to assassinate a U.S. representative when he opened fire outside a Tucson, Arizona, supermarket Saturday, killing six and wounding 12 including the congresswoman, the local sheriff said hours after the shooting.

U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was in critical condition late Saturday after surgery for a single gunshot wound to the head. The dead included a federal judge and a 9-year-old girl, authorities said.

I'm sure we have all heard about this, but someone found his Youtube account.

It's very creepy. At what point do we stop the insanity of politics?

And you know the really ****ed up part about this?

Sarah Palin twittered this.

I knew she was stupid, but she seems to purposely be trying to never get elected into anything, again. Which is good, but at the same time, she should have some class. Just saw it on the news, I guess since her show failed, she had to stir up something about herself, even if it was bad.

I guess the Tea Party is the G as in Gangsta Party. Insurance MegaCorporations don't like competition.

Known as a "Blue Dog," or moderate, Democrat, Giffords was a key swing vote in last year's health care reform debate. She didn't make up her mind to vote for the legislation until the final days before the ultimate passing vote.
Did any of you watch the gunmen's Youtube videos?

@Mkillbride

That wasn't on her Twitter.

Yeah, nice detective work blaming Palin for that.

Sheriff of that county already blaming conservatives for it when the dudes favorite book list turns up Mein Kampf and the Communist Manifesto. The guy had nothing in common with the right or the tea party.

As far as the victims, rest in peace, no one deserves that kind of violence at a peaceful rally. I hope the deaths are not used as excuses for more gun control laws, because gun control already in place should have ensured this man never had a weapon. He has a history of mental illness.

Also the congresswoman has not died, and survived the surgery to remove the bullet from her brain. Her doctors list her condition as "optimistic". The federal judge didn't survive, nor did a nine year old girl at the scene.

http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE7071IA20110109 <-- doctor's report on her condition.

Prophetic (2:10ish, though all of it is related):

While her office was smashed by some idiot, I don't recall that idiot being found or a found idiot having a Tea Party membership card, so who's ratcheting up rehtoric and fanning flames for political gain? Furthermore the shooter was a leftist who bough into facist socialism and outright communism. Sounds like every tea party member I ever met. And finally, there is strong suspicion of mental illness, which is why he was not allowed to serve in the millitary.

So lets run it another way, when you have the new black panthers (leftist), and DC Douglas (leftist) calling for people in the tea party to be killed, and one tea party member is killed in Philly during a mugging I can then suggest it was a leftist plot to kill tea party members? That and you quoted MSNBC, that's like me using Fox News, I know better and you should too.

Sarah Palin's target board was never meant to suggest that we shoot dems, and if you took it that way, I'm sorry I offended you . . . and you need to be offended more often because your PC skin is too thin. Was it in poor taste? Sure, I'll give you that one. But not a call for murder.

And why would mister mentally ill lefty-statist-athiest be taking advice from Sarah Palin?

You're engaging in an argument with someone who doesn't care about the topic at hand. I posted a video where the person who got shot discussed the possible ramifications of something that would later be considered to be at fault for said shooting.

As an aside, facism is most definitely a right-wing philosophy. A facist-socialist, as far as definitions and philosophies go, is pretty much up there with being an extremist christian and also a secret muslim. At the same time.

Her vote on health care? Rehtoric from her politcal opposition? Your statment was rather vague, and continues to be. Palin's target board was mentioned in the vid, and in the post above me, which is why I posted in your general direction. If you want your intent to be understood, don't be nebulous.

Intent isn't necessary where an opinion isn't being stated.

"Though normally described as being on the far right, there is a scholarly consensus that fascism was also influenced by the left, but with a focus on solutions from the right."

Facism may borrow solutions from the right, but authoritarian elements come from the left.

@Cucumba: I see you've seen through his brilliant ploy of writing various anti-socialist/communist books as his favourites, and realized that he is - in fact - a super secret communist ninja assassin.

On an off-topic note, I have a craving for whale steak.

Edit:

Oh, and I suppose despotism and monarchy are also leftist?

Either you didn't read the wikipedia entry you quoted, or you simply do not understand fascism. Either way, it seems like you're looking for anything to argue about, based on your supreme willingness to turn nothing into something based purely on your perception of what you think I'm going to say and what you think my intentions are. Normally I'd humor you, but this is one of those times where I'd make massive posts based purely on fact and filled with sources, so I wouldn't even have to skew perceptions, you'd get flustered and make assertions and statements that I'd spend all of 3 minutes correcting, and then you'd say you should have known better than to post on an uber liberal forum like this.

Frankly, I'm tired of this dance. I think I'll hang out at the bar this time around.

While there is a distinct difference between democratic rhetoric during those years and Palin's rhetoric today, let's pretend a bullseye and a target reticle are and implies the same thing. Does one justify the other? If one was wrong years before the other, why do it all over again? Why combine that imagery with dangerous and inflammatory rhetoric? What, pray tell, is the goal? If the imagery was innocent, why take down the site that hosted said imagery? What would be the point in damage control if you weren't in the wrong?

That said, I don't think its too far-fetched to say most people were hoping someone would take out Bush and Cheney. If I didn't think Cheney could survive a nuclear holocaust, I may have been one of those people. If that rhetoric existed then, it probably exists now, especially considering how rabid your "patriots" appear to be.

I find it disturbing that the 9-year old was born on September 11th, 2001.
