An old movie you should definitely see, if you haven't.

I'm sure a lot of you have heard One by Metallica. You may not know that this song was done by the movie Johnny Got His Gun. The movie is about a young man who, in World War I, was hit by an artillery shell, and lost his ears, mouth, nose, eyes, arms and legs. Yet his mind functions perfectly, leaving him a prisoner in his own body. Unable to tell if he's alive or dead, awake or dreaming.

This movie had a huge impact on me. It showed me that in a state like that, merely being aware of the things around you can bring you huge joy, and that all of us are taking life as we have it, as we can percieve it with our five senses, are taking it for granted. I definitely recommend you see this movie (or read the book), if you haven't.

I thought he desperately wanted to die, but wasn't able to convey it due to his predicament. I'd hate being trapped in my body. I mean, most of us already are, but to be unable to do nothing? That's worse than being buried alive.

He did desperately want to die but (WARNING: SPOILER he manages to use Morse Code to communicate with some military personnel, but even they refuse to kill him. After a compassionate nurse wants do to so by blocking his breathing tube, some general stops her, and he stays alive. Until the end, the wish to die is never granted.)

Drill two holes into the door that locks him in the compartment, feed the tubes through the hole, connect it to his person, close the door.

I watched the jacket last night. the endling dissapointed me.

There wasn't really much else they could have done with the direction they took the movie. In the end, the only way he could survive in the future is if he had no body to return to in the past. I don't understand why his body would suddenly manifest in the future if he died in the past, despite his mind being his vehicle, though.
