I think it would be best to leave him without a cape, you know? I mean, graphically, it would hide a lot of Gohan's suit, anyway, while Piccolo is an exception for this, because his suit is less descript and interesting than Gohan's.
Plus, I can imagine that someone who spend a good long while trying to model Gohan's clothing and suit or whatever, and then having it hidden by a cape would kind of make it annoying, having all the artist (Or modeller's) work going to almost waste. It would slow down the production of ESF:F a bit, which I want to do as little as possible!
But in all honesty, I would much prefer it if there was no cape to Gohan. Maybe in a seperate model, e.g, in ESF:Open Beta Final, there is a menu for alternate models, so maybe it could stay in there, for those who do want it, but I would not be using it. It could also muddle up the recognition between Piccolo and Gohan, because you want to get a general idea of who you are fighting, right? You might expect you are running into Piccolo, but then suffer the slight annoyance of running into Gohan, or vice versa. True, this is a small thing, but y'know.
