Ah, big problem plz help...

I dont know if anyone has encountered this problem before, but... ok.

I downloaded ESF (the current version) from the downloads page (Fileplanet). That worked ok. Then I installed it. No problems there. Then I go into Play ESF > LAN Games > Create (I like to get a feel for the movement before taking it to the internet; call me retarted or whatever). I create the LAN Game, but while its creating, ESF automatically shuts down and an error popup appears that says "HL has preformed an illegal operation and will shut down." or something. I dont know exactly whats wrong with it, but I tried rebooting my PC, I tried reinstalling ESF...

I even had to install it without the .MP3s cuz I had "An error compressing" a certain MP3. Am I getting these problems because the program still thinks I have MP3s there, but it locks up because it cant find a certain one?

PLZ help, I really wanna try this mod out and the only one that has worked so far for me is the old 'year-old' one...

Umm, can you give us the specs to your computer?

You said you made a LAN game. Don't make those unless your comp is configured for LAN. Try making one in internet games, just give it a ridiculous password that noone will guess, and set the player limit to 1.

My computer IS configured for a LAN (I think...)

Last I knew; my computer and my dads were networked together thru a wireless router. But this time I will try a non-LAN game. Ill see if that works and Ill come back here with my progress. Thanks all.

Ok, I tried all of the above, didnt work. Im sorta leaning towards firefly's theory, in that the download is corrupt.

The problem is, I dont want to wait in line for an hour while I constantly get set backwards in line in Fileplanet, and thats the only mirror...

The prob I have with Fileplanet is that, some way or another, Im always getting bumped BACKWARDS in line. Going from "Your number 10 of 300 in line." to suddenly "Your number 298 of 300 in line.". Thats why I HATE Fileplanet.

Well, ya LAN is fine. I even started LAn games wwithout a LAN. Its the dl I think. Believe me, Hl does not care for a LAN.

Damn, this sucks. So, fileplanet is the only place where I can get the mod? Shazbot... I wanted to play that mod too . Im not giving up on this mod, its just that Im so damn sick and tired of Fileplanet's line policy, and me losing my connection to them so often. Yo, hey File Planet sucks i never get things from there anymore, I got my ESF From another place, PM An Admin to the Forums, Ask Cucb, I will find out where i got it from m8. Also is your HL Up 2 date? i.e. 1.1.0.9. If i cant find it or it wont dl, then i guess i could e-mail it to you as an attachment.

what u need to do is install with the mp3s then delete whats in the playlist files...


this should take care of this bug/error/glitch

Hey. Ok, Guru, thanks for your help... but, the link didnt work (neither). I have no clue why, I clicked the download start button on my Download Accelerator and the download, simply, just would not stop. I also appreciate your offer for emailing it to me, but I use Yahoo email, and only a mere 6 mb of space there. O_O Im frustrated, Im about to throw this computer out my window, this is worse than an eMachine.

Hibiki, I cant even install the mod with the MP3s without the "Error compressing (whatever MP3)" appearing, that like haults my installation, so it doesnt work. I know I have a ****ed up download. So Im just looking for methods to get the file again.

When you use a dl accelerator with filewhore . . . er planet, you need to wait for the download link to popup before you start the program, or it won't get anything, and you'll loose your place in line. In addition, you should make sure that you don't automatically attempt to log on multiple times to get it in chunks . . . gamespy will kick you out of line for that.
