Heh, I was the Naked Hero known as AssFace. XP Fighter with Physical Shield and wow is it easy. And when it's at the part with the SPOILERS......MAYBE (highlight to see) Minions porting in (when you are chasing Jack and he's activating the stones) with physical shield on you can make that combat...

On the character suggestion side of things, I would absolutely LOVE to see Ark from Terranigma (Enix) in there. Or maybe the Mana Knight from Secret of Mana. If any FF characters got in I'd rather them be from FF6 than FF7, I just found FF7 to be boring and the only cool character was Vincent...
