The PS3 is here, and the Wii will be arriving shortly. I don't care if you don't like them, whether you think they have a poor lineup of games, or any other non-firsthand experience you feel the need to comment on. I want to hear from people who have actually gone out and bought who bought one, specifically, what you think of them.

the wii is pretty awesome so far. I'm loving zelda, and wii sports is awesome, you can actually pu tspin on the ball in tennis! Red steel i've only played multiplayer, 1 on 1 which wasn't all that entertaining and the controls were a little ahrd to get used to, but it looks like it could be fun. So far i am very satisfied with my purchuse.

How'd updating the console go?

Aside from the fact that updating it was a bit slow (probably due to server strain), I haven't heard any problems so far.

I have a Wii, and his name, is Wilbur. <3

So far i've only payed Wii Sports and a bit of Red Steel multiplayer. I gotta say, i'm hoping it's only the multiplayer side of it, but for next gen, Red Steel so far is comparable to N64 graphically, at least in multiplayer.

Didn't you guys have to calibrate the Wii controller on the TV? I haven't heard anything about that. I didn't get today because well, they only had 25 in stock and they said they would have more by next week. I'm going to check other stores to see if they have it while waiting in line for Casino Royale. ;P

The controller that comes with the system is already calibrated. If you buy a new controller, then yeah, you have to do that.

Anyway, I bought a Wii. It's amazing. The only thing is the T.V down the basement where I have it set up is up really high and it's hard to aim with the remote. I got to move it to a T.V that's on level with me.

it is indeed only the multiplayer side, while the single player game isn't amazing graphics wise it is MUCH MUCH better.

I hear some people are complaining about Red Steels controls like it's the end of the world.

Some people say it's full-on, all-out disappointing.

Now, I'm not expecting the best FPS in the history of gaming. I know the game has some shortcomings with turning because you have to put the pointer at the far edge of the screen to turn. I know some of the cutscenes are just stills with minimal animation, like in Max Payne, so honestly, I know the game has some shortcomings..

Are these people just overreacting? Anyone think I'll still enjoy the game?

i personally enjoy red steel, it isn't absolutely amazing, but its fun an interesting. the cutscenes are alright, but the gameplay itselfl looks nice. The aiming is hard to get used to, but i think its lots of fune to use, also sword fighting is pretty cool.

5.5 on gamespot, it is a mediocre game at best when I played it. controls are jerky.

Twilight princess however, is mindblowing.

Yeah, I heard Red Steel was bad. I decided to not waste 50 dollars for games I'm only going to play through once. I'm going to rent Red Steel and CoD 3 next weekend.

I got Rayman and Excite Truck, Rayman is an awsome game even if it's not a platformer it's still awsome. Excite Truck is fun for short burst of game but it gets boring after a while, and it controls great. The true awsomeness is Wii Sports as all the games are easy to get into and have a ton of depth. Unfortunately I haven't gotten Zelda yet or another controller; all the controllers were sold out and so is Zelda. I'll be getting Zelda either tommorow or Tuesday and I'll probably get a second controller as well. All in all it's well worth the money.

/me cancels also.

I do want to play it, but I'll pick it up when it's much cheaper.

I might pick up Excite Truck. I know it's not the greatest racer out there, but the terrain deformation and ubar truck smashing sounds fun.

Yea the fun is all opinion, but there have just been too many things wrong with red steel, typical launch season, thank god they launched with zelda though :D

by christmas we should be getting some more nice games though.

Oh yea, I checked the wii shopping thing out after I hooked up my net.

So far they have a few NES games, Mario bros (not super mario bros), donkey kong, soloman's key, zelda. SNES has F-Zero and Sim City, N64 has Mario 64, and a Genesis game (Sonic), that's about all it has up for now.

the items cost "Wii" points, NES games cost ~200 wii points (1000 wii points = $10 USD)Mario 64 is 1000, so it isn't all that bad if you want to retro game.

Do you have an account tied with the games ala Steam, or is it a one time download onto your machine? And if you lose it for some reason, do you have to buy it again?

Also something that's been bugging me. I've looked around but I haven't found much information on this.

They say that the GC controller will work with the Wii. They also offer a classic controller seperately. Will the GC controller work in place of the classic controler for any game that needs it? I really really hope so.

Anyway, either way that's a smart move. It would be cool if sony did something similar with their PS1 games, since most of them (the good ones anyway) are very hard to find now-a-days.

i will keep my ps2 and didnt had a nintendo since a longtime, also the wii opening was so awesome that i decided to get it soon, also because of the Zelda game.

i would actualyl buy a ps3 but only for 2-3 games, really, nothing more,
but as for now not many awesome games for ps3 are comming out for me, but nintendo does. So ill stick to Wii for now, as the gameplay is fantastic, its realyl something unique, really something to try out.

I'm hoping so too, don't know yet.

Well, I dunno how it connects or how much the monthly fee will cost, I know it's one month free, I just connected to my wireless network and put in the WEP key and voila.

The News and Weather channel thing didn't immediately start.

Well, as far as the games go it's pretty much downloaded to your machine that you can use all that via credit card and wii points and ****,dunno if you have to buy it again if you lose it, however you can use an SD card to save it externally.

Nintendo also sells 1 gig SD cards for the wii. :D
