i liked using the beams very much, thank you, the new melee also seems to have incredibly buggy collision detection, that or I just cant start melee ever, becuase no matter who, what, when, where, or how i run into a person i cant start melee, yet they can start it plenty of times, so im forced to using really fast/insta shooting things to fight back.
Buddy...there are hundreds of people out there playing the game right now, with no problems. Collisions are fine, the music's fine, there's that one oopsie in the config.cfg file--that if you had taken about ten seconds to educate yourself, you'd be able to solve--but otherwise the bloody game seems to me to be almost 100% bug free.

You have much bigger problems than not liking esf. Why don't you try not being such a blind idiot, and trying to fix the problems your having? Here's some tips from Pride to you, mod rookie:

  1. For starters, try leaving your specs and some specifics about your problems instead of blaming the team for your (read: your dad's) busted ass rig (read: compaq presario 500 laptop with onboard video and sound).
  2. Update your primitive ass voodoo 2's drivers
  3. Use OpenGL and not software rendering
  4. Don't leave AOL, AIM, Trillian, Kazaa, Limewire, and WinMX on in the background while running a bootleg-ass McAfee virus scan and downloading Lindsay Lohan porno vids from Nickelodeonass.org
  5. Don't use a modem, dunce.
  6. Don't use AOL, dunce.
  7. Don't use ANYTHING THAT SUCKS.
  8. Try installing steam the right way next time.
  9. Oh wait, you probably have it on WON...which is unpredictable and unsupported anyway. Would you write to Nintendo and ***** that your Mario game is all ****ed up when you jam it into your Playstation?
  10. Delete some of that porno, son. You need a good couple of gigs of empty space for page files and virtual memory
  11. Buy a video card. If a half-life mod isn't looking right, you obviously must not have one
  12. You should try running this on a PC built in the last ten years. The Aptiva is not the in-crowd as far as hardware goes.
  13. You'll need a better modem than your dad's 33.7 business connection.
  14. Learn how to work a router, tool.
  15. Config files! Have you ever played a mod before?

Pride, I'm going to have to warn you :warning: . Flaming somebody isn't the way to convince them that what they are dissing is actually better than they thought.

Anime Legend, I'm sorry, but you kinda jumped on the flame train, winning a warning for yourself. :warning: . Just like for Pride, flaming isn't cool.

People keep posting complaints saying "These things wont work ESF is buggy/retarded/lame" well if you spent 1-2 minutes in #esf-help or on the help forum you'd know how to fix 95% of what you are complaining about. If you don't look for help you'll never get it, and if you don't try to find out what's wrong, you don't have the right to complain. There's a patch coming out soon to deal with issues that have cropped up since the release. "Garrr I'm angry about something and I lash out at everyone!" Feh. Having to have melee selected was the simplest "buggy hit detection" solution to your problem. The MP3 player requires you to activate a cvar presently and that's been fixed. Stop crying and start looking for help. If you can't find help, then complain.

I didn't mean to flame...okay, maybe I did a little.

I mean, look at the server list, people are out there playing it and for ****'s sake, it works fine. There is no reason to complain so illogically, and not ask for help at all despite his issues.

Bottom line, it's what we always have to say causes computer problems at my workplace: "User error."

Yeah, I've played 1.2 for several hours straight (wow i have a life it's just.... i just can't find it at the moment D: ) and I have yet to find 1 major bug, or have 1 crashing problem.

The ONLY thing i've found to be even closely related to a bug are...

- Bots crash the server when set to the worst skill level (this is easily fixed)

- Sounds cuts out for a second while melee'n near a wall (this is not major and im sure pcjoe will get it sooner or later :p)

- Mp3 player not working (As stated above its already fixed in the patch and I think I read all you have to do is download the fmod.dll and put it in the right place)

NONE! of these are even close to major issues (1 out of god knows how many options for bots crashes the server.. not a biggie if u ask me) this seriously has to be the cleanest, most stable beta release i've ever played. Simple as that. Great job esf team!

(and yeah, don't call it too easy... play with Gman or Joe or... well i would say me but im just a beast.. and u will find out just how "easy" it is)

Yeah. The general concensus is that 1.2 rocks in the most rocking of ways. It's not the same, no--but it IS good, and it feels EVEN MORE like DBZ now. For that I am grateful.

Also, to Ultima2Freeze: If you download my userconfig.cfg fix (http://home.comcast.net/~rockerforcexv/hostedfiles/userconfig.cfg), and put it in your esf folder, you will have the mp3 player on by default, as well as max graphics settings. If the max graphics are undesirable for you, just open the file and delete everything but the mp3 player command.

Additionally...I have hundreds of posts and everyone I know who has their stuff set up right, doesn't have a ripped off copy of half-life, or a busted computer setup is in DBZ heaven right now with this mod.

Steam is tough to get set up optimally, it's true. But barring that--the bugs aren't with the game, they are entirely with the users. I posted the fix for the only real error with the game. Besides that--the guy who started this thread has STILL yet to leave his specs or any specifics.

You know why? Simple.

Because as soon as he goes, "I use a Compaq PentiumII 333mhz with 16mb RAM and an 8 meg voodoo2 through AOL dialup on my dad's 28.8 modem from an island off the coast of Japan where we mostly communicate with drums and smoke signals because the communications network is made up entirely of tin cans and strings," then his complaints about the team doing a bad job are no longer valid.

On MY machine, the game looks like a Quake III mod, for crying out loud. My framerate is a SOLID 99, THE ENTIRE TIME I PLAY. It has not crashed on me; it loads faster than all my other steam mods; the only problem I had was the advanced menu problems, and I fixed those. So I stand by my point of view that the fellow's complaints are largely unfounded. 90% of the problems he's having sound like computer issues of his own...like I said, if you have "lag" (he probably meant a miserable-ass framerate, probably thanks to something weak in the system, like an 8meg HP onboard card) in ANY half-life mod, your machine is behind the times. Half-Life should run, on any computer in the last two to three years, at its absolute maximum capability.

Until this guy posts specs and specific problems, we can't help him, and he's stuck blaming his computer's craptacularity on the team's "shoddy handiwork."

I don't like the team getting crapped on after all of their hard work. I have been playing ESF for YEARS and YEARS...this is by far my favorite game, always has been. I like it because of it's great ingenuity, masterful design, professionalism of its development team, and most importantly, the fact that it is essentially the only GOOD DBZ game ever conceived. They bust their humps for months and months and years and years--do you realize they have been committed to this for FIVE YEARS!? With not a dime to be had for them!!? They deserve praise for perserverence and professionalism if nothing else.

So I don't appreciate people telling them their product sucks. If everyone did that, we wouldn't have even seen past Alpha. I think it is HIGHLY important to show them the respect they have earned, respect they rightfully deserve.

I mean, seriously. Does this guy think they built a crappy version of the game, put it out crappy, and it just works so good for all of them, and for others like myself, by some dumb coincidence? Computer programs--especially complex ones such as this mod--don't work like that.

Our friend who started this thread either needs to ask for help, or ask for the proverbial bus ticket back to Florida (for all you Metallica fans out there--see if you catch that reference. hehe). I'd have been glad to help him, at least he wasn't outright flaming or being disrespectful (intentionally, anyway). He was just voicing his dissatisfaction. He has a right to that. But don't say everyone is saying 1.2 is bad...the reason why you only see "1.2 sucks" threads is because the rest of us are too busy PLAYING IT and screaming at the top of our lungs in joy and happiness to type spammy threads saying how much it rules, only to get cornholed by people like this guy, who can't control his limewire spyware from devouring his computer.

Well...no, Curse, it isn't that simple. I can understand his frustration--it's notlike the selection of DBZ games is very good. ATM, ESF is top dog playability and functionality wise...so it's not like he can say, "screw this, I'll go play another DBZ mod."

It doesn't matter though. Like I said before, it's obvious the problems are fully on his end. If he doesn't want to educate us legitimately on the problems, he isn't going to get help, and he isn't going to get the game working right either.

So, though I understand his frustration, it does boil down anyway to your basic "Love it or leave it" philosophy, I guess.

Depends on your card. Some cards don't handle half life as well as some other cards. That isn't really the topic, though. Guys, lay off of him now, we all understand at this point in the thread. If there's nothing left to say in here let the thread die out.

Because he no doubt has a beast of a rig :p No worries though, I'll join you in 20-30 land ;P And yeah, I can guarantee that most of the crash bugs people are experiencing are due to poor systems maintainence or having machines that can't handle steam anbd/or ESF in general. I have a 933 mhtz with 256 mb ram, 64 bit PCI card and steam chugs pretty badly at times. Slow comps just aren't made for steam and such :p

Well, maybe it's not 99 all the time; but no matter what's going on it hasn't ever dropped below that "sweet spot" around 65-75ish, because it is always silky smooth when I play on Steam. The reason's simple: my computer, compared to Half-Life, is a beast. I would wager my life that it does not go below 70 on Steam--ever.

And yeah. I think Sonic's right. I made my point here. 'Nuff said, for the time being.

besides...the guy who made the thread hasn't really replied. So it looks like he really did just up and leave; I guess that makes this thread beating a dead horse.
