I've tried a number of different boards, and vB is by far the easiest to use in terms of flexibility.

Ill agree with Cuc that VB is very flexible but im kinda partial to PHPbb in that its very powerful and that most of the forums im on use it so im used to the features and layouts.

www.oktagone.net < they have many packages for Cpanel, quite affordable as well.

I have used all boards, id say phpBB and Invision are the best free boards around though, vB if you have the money for it :p

Invision is slightly better then phpBB though with slightly more features.

I'm in agreeance with this post.

As for Kyo's comment, if find vB's usergroup permissions & functions (especially on the newest version) to be lightyears above and beyond the others. Giving people access to hidden areas in other boards is a pain in the rear, especially if you assign global moderators.

I prefer PHPBB over Invision. (On IPB) If you want guests to be able to view forums, but not post, you have to edit EVERY forum's permissions... -_-

I've always used php for smaller projects (clans, etc) and invision for larger things (esf movies, when they existed). I prefer phpbb2 though because it's just more user friendly o-O.

The only downpoint of vB is cost, if it were free or cheaper, it should be the standard across the board.
