I can't even really remember what our first comp had. The only thing i can remember is that it had 33mhz, since it was on the front in huge green numbers.

I had some good times on it though, ah the fond memories of commander keen!

My first computer was an 8088. You know, what of those old clunkers with enough metal to make a small foreign car. It's where you had to boot a primitive version of dos from a 5 1/4" floppy. I was able to program "guess my number" in zBasic on it, but it damn near died after I tried to play tic-tac-toe on there. Ah, the good `ol days.

some old ass amstrad...but that was gotten rid of about a month after i was born. i guess the oldest PC we ever owned during the era of Ness is a Packard Bell 500, Amd K6-2 550mHz, 64mb sdram, sis630 chip. was as ****e as a pewp monster for playing games :X
The first PC i ever owned is the one im also using now (a lil upgraded since then though). When i first built it last april, it started off with an AMD AthlonXP 1700+, a PCI GeForce 2 MX400/440 32MB, 128MB ddrram, and a cd rewriter of 52x 10x 40x and an 18GB harddrive.

First PC or first computer? There is a difference.
Most PCs are defined by the IBM compatible standard.

My first PC was a:
286 8mhz
4 Megs Ram
EGA Video card (16 colors)
5.25" Floppy Drive, later i installed a 3.5" Floppy
40meg Hard Drive (compressed and doubled to 80megs w00t!)
The most high tech thing of this whole setup was my HP Deskjet 340.
A printer that (at the time) costed more than the whole computer system.
It ran on DOS 5.0 which was later upgraded to DOS 6.22

My first Computer ever was a Commodore 64. It ran on Basic OS.
To give you an idea of how old it was, the Commodore 64 was released in 1981.
Thats the year I was born.... I got it 13 years later as my first computer. Loaded with games.

PC stands for personal computer, and while IBM would like to take the credit fror that format, you'll find that they actually named the line something along the lines of XT, ST, AT . . .

PC is a class of computers that includes Macintosh machines as well.

Palm or Handheld
Notebook/Laptop
PC
Minicomputer
Mainframe
Supercomputer

Those are all classifications of computers, even though some of them are pretty much dead . . . since High end PC class machines can rival a mainframe in power with a *nix OS.

my first computer was a 286'er, don't know any other specs. I do know the computer we had after that was a 386DX 40 Mhz with like 4 mb's of Ram and maybe 1mb of a vid card. WIth a HD of 100mb no cd-drive and later on an adlib-sound card (so no sound effects only music). After that a 200 mhz mmx pentium 1 and now a 1.5ghz p4 and my laptop is the first computer i ever bought myself, the resdt of the computers were for home use by the entire family. I also had some old 386'ers I got from an uncle but that was not so long ago...

This is true. A PC is a Personal Computer.

But with todays modern computer industry: A PC is something based off the x86 architecture.
As a Certified PC Technician, we usually refer to anything that runs Windows (or Linux) as a PC.
Macs are macs. You call a Mac a "PC" infront of a MAC Geek and he'll slap you. Even though they are PCs, they don't like to admit it.
I fix PCs everyday. So I know exactly what a PC is. I know way back when, before I was born, a PC was a home computer, that simple.
But nowadays we define a PC by being an x86 Windows box. Emachines, Compaqs, Dells, HPs, Gateways, IBMS, and various PC Clones.
I'm not trying to say your wrong, I agree with you. I was just trying to get the point across that a Commodore 64 isn't a PC anymore.
Anyways, nuff said.

Then I guess you shouldn't have said they were two totally different things.

Okay,it was a Packard bell, parents bought it back when i was 4 (April,1994)
1. windows 95
2. 18 gb hard drive
3. 32 mb of ram
4. 250 mhz pentium 1 processor
5. 28.8k modem
6. crappy 17in packard bell monitor
7. boston acoustics speakers
8. 52x cd burner (im pretty sure anyway)
9. the standard floppy drive
10. 16mb ATI Graphics card
11. Some decent integrated sound card (for its time)

Yeah it was top of the line at that time and plenty good enough to play duke nukem and some other games. (until i did something and ended up causing a catastrophic system failure blowing my hard drive and melting my processor to my motherboard, remember, i was four, i didnt know anything).

the first computer i ever had was the yellow retangle... i mean LAPTOP COMPUTER!

And check out the speculations!

The lappy 486 weights at an extremely portable 42 pounds and has a batery life of the half of 10 minutes. 2 MB of hard drive space and a WOPPING 512K RAM! "The lappy 486, finally a computer in your lap!"

Nah im kidding, the first computer i ever had was...

Microsoft Windows
32 MB Ram
4 GB Hard Drive
10'' Color Monitor

and that's all i can remember

More or less the exact same thing. I remember, I could play FF7 on it though.
