Should I use Software, OpenGL, or D3D When i try to use Opengl it says

The specified video mod is not supported
The Game will now run in software mode
That makes me very sad...

If you are certain you have a Radeon type Graphics Card (Which is by ATi). Go to www.ati.com, and download the latest official (not beta) Catalyst drivers.

There are ways you can check what type of video card you have. One way is this:
 1. Right-click on your desktop, and select properties.
 2. When the Display Properties window comes up, click on the Settings tab (Should be at the top of the window)
 3. You'll see a monitor, below it should say this Plug & Play Monitor on your graphics card name. (Mine says Default Monitor on NVIDIA Geforce2 MX/MX400)
If it says ATi, or Radeon or anything similar on their, then go to www.ati.com and download they're latest, stable, catalyst drivers, and see if you can go into OpenGL mode after installing the drivers.
