A lot of people joke around the internet by sarcastically calling it "serious business" or shrugging it off as "it's only the internet", but has it affected anything for you or your life or is it just a superficial toy for you?
Though this technically includes online gaming, email, and instant messaging, I mostly mean the world wide web, but feel free to include those.

Specifically, places like this have improved my writing skills actually. "i don't tlk like this cuz it's only the net and only type good 4 skool". My argumentative and debating skills have also improved watching and participating in valid arguments (which the forum has a load of).

The internet also has a quirky sense of humor. Now I for one do not find ***** memes funny, and they don't work in the real world (or in my context), but types of sarcasm and satire that actually works in a casual conversation have rubbed off on to me.

The internet has also done some bad things as well, such as the amount of cynicism and general apathy from fellow teenagers/young adults. Nerdy children who see the internet as their outlet also make me disappointed how pathetic kids can get when they meet other people with similar obsessions.

The internets is the craziest of peoples!

I use it primarily for obtaining information. I still prefer to use the library over the internet, but my local library isn't open 24/7. That's what I like about the net. I could think of something in the dead of night, and check it out immediately, rather than toss and turn all night because I don't have the information or answers I desire.

Internet is a great way to socialize with others, also i get my information i desire faster than ever before.

Internet can also be a good place to get laughs at or just pass time if bored.
So yeah, internet changed my whole life, actually.

Nowadays i value internet conversations more than real life ones, because i can share every thought i want to or possibly guide to what i want to show / or am meaning, so the opposite isn't confused + links to news and stuff like that. Most over all this, no random retards come and talk you, you can just ignore them ( or yet, if you don't want to 'hurt their feelings', you can just close the conversation window and say ok when the opposite person ends typing). More over this, you can have a very intelligent conversation with people like you, if you know who you are talking to (of course, this is also in real life, but from my experience, real life and internet conversations are way different with people i know). This can be hard at real life, topic changes or the opposite can react to serious conversations like : "yeah, whatever" or make some pitiful 'joke' about something that regards to that topic, that clearly states the other person's idiocy.

It changed the entire world. Like Chakra said, people make jokes about the internet being "serious business", but the internet is one of humanity's most important inventions as of yet, I would argue.

I'm not sure where i would be if it weren't for the internet. I'd probably still be in church, and be totally sheltered and innocent...

In casual terms, it extended my social life. Instead of just saying "hey" to an acquaintance at school, I can talk to them easily and keep in touch with Facebook. Basically, my entire grade is always connected somehow.

And without the internet, my skill for animation may have never developed, since I pursued it because of Newgrounds.com and the audience I got from it. Animation also influenced my college choices, so my career may have relied on it. I've also learned a hell lot from Wikipedia.

Oh wow. Now that i think of it, internet also showed me so much information based of facts and truth, which i would never have thought of.
I would still believe to god for example, i am not going to say anything else since they are a little.. fragile to talk over the forums, as i can recall right now, especially here.
