Was NS Over Rated?

Now that I have played it, I think it was all about the eye candy. The pace is slow! I mean slow! I ran around for 15 minutes, and didn't see a single marine! It just wasn't exciting. I hope future releases improve on this.

I think this mod has LOTS of great potential, and the visuals are already stunning, but gameplay has room for improvement.

yea i played....and had 2000 + ping on all the servers i joined.....




and i have a nice computer with dsl......so...it wasn't my computer....

I think the game is awesome. I was a little skeptical at first because all the servers had terrible pings.

But I go to college and my friends here at college play all and every HL mod. And when a new one comes out we make a dedicated server for it.

So we joined it and had awesome pings under 100. And then the server filled up hella quick and everyone was getting pings at about 200. So we were having a great game.

If you ever want to come and play on our server it's named 42h NS server.

heh...i just played for 2 hours....but the teams r kind of one sided :S I was a marine and i pwned everyone (even when we had 4 less people then they did) and we still kicked the crap outta them. But then i joined Aliens...and got WOMPED ON! they just have it harder....simple as that. they get little Pea shooter weapons that dont do jack ****...and that ONOS thing is WAY overrated........so imma just stick wit Marines

its a pretty fun game, its like 11:18 right now so i have only played it for about 30 mins. Ill enjoy it more tommorow l8r all. Aliens r good if ur skillful

come on, the mod is 1 day out and u discriminate it.

the lag is because the server are ****. first i played on a ping 1000 server, where everyone had 1000 ping, but then i played on one server that i know that it has good ping, and i have 92. without lag. u have to get the all seeing eye and look at the p(acket)l(oss). 0% is the best. and look if it is a dedicated server... some ppl think with 56k modem they can host 10 ppl.


the commander mode on the maps is very complex. the marines there yawn that they need ammo, then i have to send them to the turret fac where the sentries have to been build.... but then alien attacks...

but after 1 week i will learned it... for one map... then the other maps will hopefully be easier.

i played total of 6 games, one 1hour long, one 30 minutes etc... aliens won 3 times, and marine won 3 times...

in one week there will also be more server and better server. not so cheap server with cheap computers that cant handle ns

yea the lag is 2 things..

1. bad servers trying to host 32 player games
2. a bad netcode

but 1 will be ok since ppl will start buyying blueyonder and jolt servers etc, so u will get a great ping on them, and been said, a patch is comeing out

atleast Tribes 2 servers can get 32 people with ease, without lag can even have 128 max. Tribes 2 > Ns

tribes2 isnt a hl mod. and it is not ns that makes it laggy... the cheap server comps are the problem. i play often without lag.

yeah that happend to me on some servers too, it only happend when i used the ns shortcut, if i went in thu hl and custom game it werked

I think it's a great game and all.... but it's definatly overrated.. even at low ping servers, it's fun, but it's not as ubercool as expected

I just played NS for an hour with 1000 ping. If it had been CS or ESF I would have just disconnected after 2 minutes, but with NS I played for a whole hour. Thats gotta say something.
