Its his race. Vash and knives are plants. Maybe their race has a much longer lifespan thst humans. Trigun did leave a lot of things unexplained.Do you remeber from the series when Vash summoned some sort of being that lives outside of time (im pretty sure thats what wolfwood said). Maybe these beings stop time from passing for vash an knives.

I don't recall when Vash summoned anything. But Vash is quite old in comparison to humans. So he certainly isn't too young to be shooting revolvers.

Its in episode 20 i think,maybe 21 but definte one of those, its when vash and wolfwood were at the city in the sky. The gung ho guns are attack the ractors of the ship, and one of the ractors gets cracked. vash then puts his hands on it and some sort of being appears, and starts regeneating the crack, and im guessing thats what he did in an earlier episode when another reactor had been booby trapped and was overheating, while he was inside. While this is going on, wolfwood comments on whatever it was thsappeared being was "a being that lives outside of time". I cant remeber exactly what he said, and it probably wasnt exactly that anyway since it was subbed.
